Barbecue venues around Nackington

Nackington is about 2 miles south of Canterbury, in Kent. We are happy to travel to Nackington for events. We cover 922 places across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages.

After a christening at a church such as Church of St Mary, a barbecue at home or a hall nearby is an easy way to feed everyone. Summer fairs and sports days, for a school such as Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys, frequently want a barbecue. Nackington is within about 7 miles of the Kent Downs National Landscape, a lovely setting for an outdoor barbecue. Venues there may restrict open cooking, so ask about their rules first.

For events in CT4, we just need to know where the barbecue can cook and roughly how many guests. If your venue is just outside Nackington, we also cover Street End (1 mile south-west), Stuppington (1 mile north-west), Lower Hardres (1 mile south), Pett Bottom (2 miles south) and Wincheap (2 miles north-west). Larger places within reach include Ashford (12 miles south-west), Dover (12 miles south-east), Folkestone (12 miles south), Ramsgate (15 miles north-east), Whitstable (7 miles north) and Deal (13 miles east).

Nearby you’ll also find Canterbury Castle (1.9 miles north) and Kent and Canterbury Hospital (1.1 miles north). The countryside around Nackington includes Blean Woods RSPB Reserve.

  • Nearby schools include St. Anselm's Catholic School (1.1 miles north-east)

Organising for someone else?

If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it’s worth asking first. We will work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

What comes off the grill

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes

Sides include salads, coleslaw, new potatoes and jacket potatoes, depending on the occasion.

Chicken skewers

Chicken gives guests who don’t eat pork or beef a meat option, cooked until it’s hot all the way through.

Prices and what affects them

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Site access
  • Travel to Nackington
  • The number of people
  • Crockery choices

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

Details that help

These are the details we need:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Roughly how many people
  • The address or postcode
  • Rules from the venue or landowner

For a quote, send us a few details: the date and serving time, the venue or CT4 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Use our quote form.

Nackington: your questions answered

Can you do a barbecue at a venue in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

How far is Nackington from London?

About 54 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Is barbecued chicken safe?

Cooking properly is our job: separate equipment for raw and cooked food, and everything cooked through.

What does the venue need to provide?

A level, open spot outdoors for the grill, with room for a serving table and a way in for our equipment. Tell us what’s available on site and we’ll confirm the rest when we quote.

How soon do barbecue dates go?

Summer Saturdays go first, so ask as early as you can. Weekday and off-season dates are often easier. Fill in our quote form.

Will guests know what’s in each dish?

We can label dishes at the serving table. Tell us about allergies in advance.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can for summer weekends and December. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Ask and we’ll check.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the spot as we found it.

A catered barbecue compared with other options

Compared with a barbecue cooked by friends, a catered barbecue means everyone gets to be a guest, and food safety is in professional hands. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, which is why each one gets its own quote.

The process

We get there well ahead of food time, so the grill is hot by the time you want to eat. The smell soon brings people over. Evening barbecues in Nackington need a little planning: daylight lasts until about 9:15pm at midsummer, but by late September it goes at about 7:00pm. After dark, the serving table needs lighting.

  1. Start with the date, the venue and roughly how many.
  2. We check the cooking spot and quote.
  3. We set up under cover before service.
  4. Our chef cooks and our staff serve.
  5. We tidy up and pack away.

Preparing for the day

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Include children in your numbers
