New Barn is within about 8 miles of the Kent Downs National Landscape. Venues there may restrict open cooking, so ask about their rules first.

New Barn: your questions answered
Do you cater at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.
Could you cook in Rectory Meadow?
Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first.
Do you do barbecues out of season?
Most barbecues are in summer, but we can cook in any season, with cover over the grill. Plan shelter for your guests.
Will you clear up afterwards?
Yes, we clear up after service, so there’s very little washing up. Ask if you’d like china.
Do you offer halal meat?
We don’t. Please arrange halal food separately if anyone needs it.
Can you do a hog roast as well?
Yes. Many bigger events have both. Ask and we’ll quote for the mix.
Is the barbecue cooked on site?
Yes. Our chef cooks outdoors, under cover, at your event, with our staff serving and clearing.
What do children typically eat?
Yes, generally: simple food in a roll suits most children. Give us a rough number of children.
A barbecue or other catering?
Compared with a DIY barbecue, nobody you know spends the event at the grill, and the food is cooked properly by people who do it every week. Compare like for like: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.
Why book with us
- Halloumi skewers and a vegan option
- Cooked on site by our chef
- Burgers, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and more
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
How it works
A barbecue is cooked as people eat, so we time our arrival around your serving time. It means food comes off the grill hot. For an evening barbecue in New Barn, think about light: it is light until about 9:20pm in June but only about 7:00pm in late September. Plan lights for the serving area after that.
- Start with the date, the venue and roughly how many.
- We check the space and send a quote with the menu.
- We set up under cover before service.
- At food time, we cook and serve.
- We tidy up and pack away.
Preparing for the day
- Name a contact for the day
- Pick a spot where smoke blows away from guests
- Send final numbers in good time
Ask for a quote
A quote from us sets out the menu, timings, staffing and what’s included, so it is easy to compare like for like. Use our quote form.

Organising for someone else?
If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.
