Working with your venue
Event organisers often ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll tell you what we can send.
Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before booking. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

- Distance from us
- How easy it is to reach the spot
- Time on site

Your questions about a hog roast for your Christmas party in Beansheaf Farm
Can you do a hog roast in Calcot Park?
Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.
What’s the nearest station to Beansheaf Farm?
The closest is Theale station, roughly 1.4 miles away.
What do people get?
The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.
Do you bring plates?
Plates are included. China is available at an extra cost.
Can you be flexible on serving time?
Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.
When should we book?
As early as you can for summer weekends and December. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we’ll check.
Do we need to provide electricity?
The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.
Can you do gluten-free?
We can provide gluten-free rolls if you ask. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Roast turkey

Should I cook it myself?

How it works
A typical booking goes like this: we arrive, set up under cover and start roasting, the roast cooks gently through the day, and we carve and serve at the agreed time. By about 3:55pm in late December, Beansheaf Farm is dark. A Christmas party in the evening means carving under lights, and a lit path from the door.
- Book early for December.
- We check your venue and send a quote.
- We set up under cover in daylight.
- We serve hot rolls and turkey if you’ve chosen it.
- We tidy up and leave.
How to prepare
- Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
- Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
- Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
