DIY versus a catered hog roast
You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you.
We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

What comes off the roaster
Salads, potatoes and coleslaw
Choose from salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes, to suit your event.
Stuffing and apple sauce
Stuffing and a dollop of apple sauce make the roll, just as they should.
Space, access and the venue
The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:
- A short route for our equipment
- Space away from buildings, marquees and trees
- Somewhere warm and dry for guests to eat
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

For event organisers in Bicknor
Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it’s worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.
If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Next to a winter barbecue, slow roasting suits winter far better. Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote, with any London charges listed. Tell us the exact address for an accurate figure.

The process
When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. - Ask early for a December date.
- We check your venue and send a quote.
- We set up under cover in daylight.
- We serve hot rolls and turkey if you’ve chosen it.
- We tidy up and leave.

- Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
- Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We’ll check it with you before booking.
