For event organisers in Dover

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We will fit in with site rules.

For venues and planners, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.

How it works

Rain doesn’t stop the roast, because we cook under cover. It’s worth planning a sheltered place for people to eat, too. By about 3:50pm in late December, Dover is dark. Evening Christmas parties need a well-lit carving station.

  1. Book early for December.
  2. We check your venue and send a quote.
  3. We arrive while it is light and set up under cover.
  4. We serve pork, turkey and sides.
  5. We clear the serving area and go.

How to prepare

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the Christmas party is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Use our quote form.

Planning the cooking spot

We need room to cook safely and under cover. Before booking, check:

  • A firm surface, as winter grass can be soft
  • Vehicle access close by

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

What a hog roast costs

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • How long the roast and service take
  • Site access
  • Distance from us
  • How many people are eating

Compare like for like: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

What to tell us

Here’s what we will ask:

  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Roughly how many people
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china

Send us the date, the address or CT17 postcode and rough numbers, plus when you’d like to eat. We’ll check the date and send a quote. Use our quote form.

Yes. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.

About 65 miles from central London, and well within our area.

When should we book?

As early as you can for summer weekends and December. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we will check.

What’s the price?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Tell us your date and we will send a price.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

Within reason, we can. Give us a contact on the day and we’ll adjust.

Can you do gluten-free?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. We will give you full allergen information for every dish.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it’s several hours. You will know our arrival time in advance.

How do you work out quantities?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will talk it through when we quote.

Festive bookings around Dover

Dover is in Kent. We cater Christmas parties across Dover and nearby. We cater 922 places across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages. We cater events right across the region, from Dover to Canterbury (about 14 miles away).

Christmas fairs at a church such as Parish Church of St Andrew Buckland can book a hog roast stall. If you are organising a Christmas fair for a school like Shatterlocks Infant School, hot rolls go down well. With the sea within about 2 miles, December breezes can be cold, so plan somewhere warm for guests to eat.

Here we cover the CT17, CT16, CT15 and CT14 postcode area, and we can cater your Christmas party anywhere in it. Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Next to a cold Christmas buffet, hot carved meat is far more welcome in December. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

What you get with us

  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Timed around your day
  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Fresh carving at the serving station

Take a look at our prices page or what a hog roast costs.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To help:

  • Keep vegetarian food labelled
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Plan separately for anyone who needs halal food
  • Stuffing usually contains gluten, so check the allergen list

Name someone to meet us, especially for an office party.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Add salads, coleslaw and potatoes to make it a proper meal, especially at a sit-down event.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

A plant-based burger or sausage covers vegans, served in a roll with salads.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
