Slow-roasted pork in Way

Film set catering in Way, slow-roasted on site

Wrap parties suit a hog roast too. Typical bookings include crew thank-you days and rural locations, with a vegan option, spit-roast lamb and salads.

Rural locations near Way can be a long way from food, so hot food at base is a big help. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

For event organisers in Way

If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

For venues and planners, we are happy to work alongside your team.

How it works

Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. At midsummer, daylight in Way lasts until about 9:15pm, so a wrap party can run into the evening.

  1. The production office sends us the location, dates, numbers and lunch time.
  2. We check access to base and quote.
  3. We agree where we set up and when we arrive.
  4. We carve to order the moment lunch is called.
  5. We pack up and leave the base tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot

Planning help

Why choose film set catering in Way?

It feeds a crew quickly once carving starts.

However big or small the event in Way, a slow roast goes a long way. We are frequently asked to cater:

  • Period locations
  • Base catering
  • Shoots on location
  • Countryside locations

Nearby historic houses include Quex Park (2 miles north). Period locations like these typically keep catering well away from the house, so agree the base early.

Comparing caterers

  • How dietary needs are handled
  • Plates, china and cutlery
  • Exactly what’s included in the price
  • Which meats, sides and extras are included

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Before you choose a spot

We need room to cook safely and under cover. Before booking, check:

  • A level spot at base for the roaster

  • Clearance from trucks, kit and trees

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Salads
  • Rotisserie chicken

Way questions

Do you come out to small places like Way?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Is Way close to London?

About 62 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can often serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Where does the hog roast go?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We will confirm the space with your quote.

How much will it be?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we’re on site. Tell us your date and we will send a price.

How soon do you get booked up?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Send your date and we’ll check.

Can you cater for vegans on set?

Add alternatives to suit your crew.

What about crew who don’t eat pork?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We do not provide halal meat.

A hog roast compared with other options

At the end of a shoot, a hog roast feels like a reward. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head normally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why book with us

  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Served at the time you choose
  • An itemised quote
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated

Take a look at how we price and the cost guide.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who doesn’t eat it. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Halal is not offered
  • Count crew needing an alternative
  • Ask the production office for dietary needs
  • Share the allergen list with the crew

If lunch moves, we hold the roast a little.

Sides make a proper lunch.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
