The menu, dish by dish

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, a hot, filling option of their own.

Roast pork

Slow-roasted pork is the heart of the menu: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, straight from the roaster.

Should I cook it myself?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

How we price a hog roast for your event

The price comes down to:

  • Season and day of the week
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Plates or china
  • Time on site

Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.

Common questions in Ashford Hill

Can you come to a school fair in Ashford Hill?

How soon do you get booked up?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Ask and we’ll check.

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, and a way to wheel everything in. Send us a photo if you’re unsure.

Working with your venue

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

For venues and planners, we are happy to work alongside your team.

How the day works

Slow roasting is the whole point: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin turns into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. Summer events in Ashford Hill have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, which helps evening trading. For winter events, dark by about 4:00pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. It starts with your event date, site and expected numbers.
  2. You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
  3. On the day we set up under cover and get the hog on.
  4. We carve rolls to order as the queue moves.
  5. Afterwards we clear the pitch and go.

Preparing for the day

  • Let us know about tight access
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
