How the day works

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Summer events in Farmoor have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, so evening trading usually finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter fairs, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. It starts with your event date, site and expected numbers.
  2. You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
  3. We set up early so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.
  4. We carve and serve through the agreed hours.
  5. We pack down, take our waste and leave the pitch clean.

Allergies and dietary needs

Most people love a hog roast, but it is pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Share the event’s food safety requirements with us
  • Make the stall easy to find
  • Check other traders aren’t all selling pork

We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting, so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.

What we serve, dish by dish

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and it’s carved fresh as people come up.

Rotisserie chicken
