How our hog roast for events works in Hempton
At a fête, fair or festival in Hempton, a hog roast stall draws a crowd. We roast on the pitch through the day and carve rolls to order, keeping the queue moving. Whether it’s village fêtes and tournaments and sports days, we’ll put together a menu of crackling, rotisserie chicken and halloumi skewers for your visitors.
For a village fête or field event near Hempton, we can cook in a field. Ground and access matter, so tell us about them. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve.

What a hog roast costs
Each price is built from:
- Time on site
- Which meats and sides you choose
- Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
- Distance from us
Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.
Getting an accurate quote
To check availability and the cooking area, we will need:
- An estimate of numbers
- Where the event is
- Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
- Your menu choices
A quote from us sets out the menu, timings, staffing and what’s included, so it is easy to compare like for like. Fill in our quote form.
Should I cook it myself?
Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.
You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.
Organising for someone else?
Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, especially on the day.
Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.
The process
When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. Summer events in Hempton have daylight until about 9:30pm at midsummer and about 7:10pm by late September, which helps evening trading. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.
- Tell us about the event.
- We check the pitch and paperwork and quote.
- We set up early on the pitch.
- We carve to order through the day.
- We pack down and take our waste.
Preparing for the day
- Think about shelter for your visitors
- Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Name a contact for the day
