Planning an event in Hunton?

Hog roast for events near Hunton

Festivals and shows run for hours, and we serve through the agreed hours, carving as the queue grows. For summer fêtes and country shows, we can cook apple sauce, halloumi skewers and crackling for your visitors.

At a field event near Hunton, power and water may be limited; we cook on gas, so we do not need mains power. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

Questions from Hunton

What’s the nearest station to Hunton?

Yalding station, about 2.1 miles west of the centre.

Do you trade at school fairs around Hunton?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Tell us the date and pitch details.

What do people get?

Rolls with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.

What space does the roaster need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll confirm the space with your quote.

Can you work around our timings?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

How long does the roast need?

It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it’s several hours. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Is it pay as you go?

It depends on how your event works. Let us know how you’d like it to work and we will discuss the options.

Can we just hire the roaster?

DIY machine hire is available. We’ll confirm what comes with it and how to use it.

What we serve, dish by dish

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie chicken is there for anyone who’d rather not have pork, and children usually like it too.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Halloumi and vegetable skewers are the vegetarian choice: grilled halloumi with vegetables.

The process

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. In December, Hunton is dark by about 3:50pm, so plan lights for the stall and the queue.

  1. Share the date, site and expected crowds.
  2. We agree how food will be paid for.
  3. We roast on the pitch.
  4. We serve rolls quickly.
  5. We tidy the pitch.

Before we arrive

  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

Planning help

For planners, venues and organisers

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.

Should I cook it myself?

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with burger vans, a hog roast feels more special. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.

Why book our hog roast in Hunton

  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Served at the time you choose

See how we price and the cost guide.

How we price a hog roast for your event

Every booking is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • The journey to the venue
  • Numbers
  • Crockery choices
  • How long the roast and service take

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

What we need to know

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Please include:

  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • Rough numbers
  • Dietary requirements

It’s easy to get a price: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. You will get a clear quote listing what’s included. Send us your details through our quote form.

Looking after everyone

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Plan separately for halal if needed
  • Show allergens at the stall
  • Remember stuffing usually contains gluten
  • Make the stall easy to find

We clear the pitch and take everything away.

Coleslaw goes well with pork rolls.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
