Hog roast for events near Newnham

Village fêtes around Newnham suit a hog roast: the smell draws people over, and rolls are easy to eat while walking round. Whether it is agricultural and country shows and PTA summer fairs, we can cook apple sauce, rotisserie chicken and hog roast rolls for your visitors.

At a field event near Newnham, power and water may be limited; the roaster runs on gas, so that is fine. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so you are not left handing out rolls.

Questions from Newnham

Could you cook in Doddington Place Gardens?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Can you come to a school fair in Newnham?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Tell us the date and pitch details.

Is electricity needed?

The roaster runs on gas, so no mains power is needed to cook. Power helps for lighting.

Do you need power or water?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Will there be enough to go round?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. We will confirm the menu in the quote.

Can a hog roast raise money?

Let us know your plans, and we will suggest a way to make it work.

How much will it be?

Every booking is quoted individually, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your event for a quote.

Do you come to Newnham?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, Newnham and the rest of Kent included. Send us the address for a quote.

Space, access and the venue

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • A vehicle route onto the pitch
  • A safe distance from other traders
  • Event approval for hot-food traders

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

Planning for dietary needs

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian
  • Halal is not offered
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if you expect coeliac visitors
  • Share the event’s food safety requirements with us

Tell us about ground conditions, especially after rain.

Add coleslaw.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Next to a barbecue stall, carving is faster than grilling to order. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.

What you get with us

  • All the equipment comes with us
  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • A choice of salads and potatoes

See our prices page and our hog roast cost guide.

Should I cook it myself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Step by step

It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we have agreed, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. In December, Newnham is dark by about 3:50pm, so plan lights for the stall and the queue.

  1. Share the date, site and expected crowds.
  2. We agree how food will be paid for.
  3. We roast on the pitch.
  4. We serve rolls quickly.
  5. We tidy the pitch.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Name a contact for the day
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
