How the food is paid for depends on the event: a catered package paid by the organiser, or a stall selling to visitors. Let us know what you have in mind. Popular choices include hog roast rolls, apple sauce and a vegan burger or sausage, and we are regularly asked to cater vintage rallies and village fêtes.
Rural events near Well Head can be a long way from anywhere to eat, so a hog roast goes down well. You’ll know what’s included before booking: serving times, the menu, staff and anything else agreed.
Prices and what affects them
We don’t use a fixed price list, because every event is different. What matters most:
- The journey to the venue
- How easy it is to reach the spot
- Which meats and sides you choose
- Plates or china
Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.
What we need to know
These are the details we need:
- Allergies we should know about
- Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
- An estimate of numbers
- Where the event is
Every quote lists the menu, the serving time, staff and plates, so it’s easy to compare like for like. Fill in our quote form.

DIY versus a catered hog roast
You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.
Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.
What we serve, dish by dish
Roast pork
Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and it’s carved fresh as people come up.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Everything goes into a soft roll, easy to eat standing up. Gluten-free rolls are available on request.
How the day works
Your timings come first. If the day runs behind, we can hold the cooked roast for a while before carving, so keep us posted on the day. In late May, sunset in Well Head is about 8:45pm, and midsummer ones until about 9:15pm. After dark, the stall needs lighting.
- Organisers send us the date, site, numbers and how food will be paid for.
- You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
- We set up early so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.
- We carve and serve through the agreed hours.
- Afterwards we clear the pitch and go.
How to prepare
- Measure the narrowest gate or passage
- Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
- Plan a step-free way in for the equipment

Well Head questions
How far is Well Head from London?
Roughly 59 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.
Is Well Head too small for a hog roast?
No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.
What do you need from the organiser?
The roaster runs on gas, so no mains power is needed to cook. A supply is useful for lights.
Do you cover Well Head?
Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Well Head and Kent. Tell us the venue and we will quote.
What comes with the hog roast?
Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.
Do you clear up?
We pack everything away after service, and we take our equipment with us.
Can you be flexible on serving time?
Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.
Is it pay as you go?
Some events pay for a package, others want a stall. We’ll work it out together.
Looking after everyone
A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:
- Plan separately for halal if needed
- Balance the food line-up
- Remember stuffing typically contains gluten
- Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian
We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting, timed for the gates opening.
Chicken widens the choice.
