Hog roast for events in Wootton

DIY versus a catered hog roast

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is normally easier.

Hog roast for events in Wootton, slow-roasted on site

Shows and festivals last all day, and a hog roast can serve through the day. For school fairs and sports days and church and village fêtes, we can cook a vegan burger or sausage, apple sauce and rotisserie chicken.

For a village fête or field event near Wootton, a hog roast brings hot food to a rural site. Tell us about the ground and the way in. The hog is roasted on site at your event, low and slow, for hours, then carved fresh for your visitors.

Planners, venues and businesses

For venues and planners, we’re happy to work alongside your team, sharing timings and a site plan.

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

What a hog roast costs

Each price is built from:

  • How long the roast and service take
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Numbers
  • Menu choices and extras

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

What to tell us

For a quick, accurate price, send us:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • An estimate of numbers
  • Any venue rules

For a quote, send us a few details: your date, your venue or postcode, how many people and any menu choices. Use our quote form.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with cold food stalls, hot rolls are welcome whatever the weather. Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote. Tell us the exact address for an accurate figure.

What you get with us

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • An itemised quote
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit

Is Wootton too small for a hog roast?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

How do we prepare?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We’ll bring the rest.

Do you have documents for event organisers?

Send us your trader requirements, and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

What’s the price?

Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Ask us for a quote.

We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

Looking after everyone

Rolls and stuffing typically contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. A few more tips:

  • Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian
  • Balance the food line-up
  • Make the stall easy to find
  • Show allergens at the stall

Tell us about ground conditions, particularly in wet weather.

Add coleslaw.

How the day works

The roaster cooks outdoors, on a level, open spot under cover, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We agree exactly where before the day. In December, Wootton is dark by about 3:50pm, so plan lights for the stall and the queue.

  1. Organisers send us the date, site, numbers and how food will be paid for.
  2. You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting.
  4. We carve rolls to order as the queue moves.
  5. Afterwards we clear the pitch and go.

Preparing for the day

  • Give us a contact number for the day
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
