About our hog roast hire in Benover

There is nothing quite like the smell of a hog roast drifting across a garden or field. We cook at your venue in Benover, low and slow, then carve the pork into rolls with all the trimmings. For corporate events and sports clubs and societies, we will put together a menu of hog roast rolls, halloumi skewers and spit-roast lamb.

Somewhere like Benover, a yard or firm field frequently works. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. We plan the timings around your day, working back from when you want to eat.

Questions from Benover

We’re gathering after a service at St Peter's and St Paul's Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Is Benover close to London?

Roughly 30 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

Outside, always. Serving indoors is normally fine if the venue is happy.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

Is all of Kent covered?

Kent is part of our area, including Benover. Ask for a quote.

Is it just pork?

It’s built around the hog, with lamb and chicken as extras.

What’s the price?

Every booking is quoted individually, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Ask us for a quote.

Can you roast in the rain?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

The menu, dish by dish

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which suits bigger events.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

How the day works

Rain doesn’t stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Light matters for a long roast: in Benover, sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 9:15pm in late June, while in December the light goes at about 3:50pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Before we arrive

  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Gather dietary requirements early

How we price a hog roast

The price comes down to:

  • Crockery choices
  • Travel to Benover
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • How easy it is to reach the spot

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

What to tell us

These are the details we need:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Dietary requirements
  • Roughly how many people
  • The address or postcode

Busy weekends book up early, especially summer Saturdays and December Fridays. Tell us your date and we will check it: fill in our quote form.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, and order an alternative for them
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled

We’ll be with you for a good part of the day, since slow roasting starts early.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Before you choose a spot

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work if a few things are right. Here’s what helps:

  • Any venue rules sorted in advance
  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • A safe distance from walls, tents and trees

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Planners, venues and businesses

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before booking. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.

Marquee suppliers usually set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
