About our hog roast hire in Burham

In Burham, a hog roast is an easy way to feed plenty of people: a single slow roast, carved to order. Everything comes with us, and we serve and tidy up afterwards. We are often asked to cater summer garden parties and big birthdays and anniversaries, with rotisserie chicken, crackling and halloumi skewers.

In a small place like Burham, a hog roast frequently goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

How it works

From setting up to the last roll, we look after the food, so you can get on with your event in Burham. By late September, sunset in Burham is around 7:00pm, and in December it’s nearer 3:50pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the serving area.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We check the date and the cooking spot, then send a quote.
  3. We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
  4. On the day we roast for hours, then carve to order.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.

Before we arrive

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking

Planning help

Burham: your questions answered

Is Burham close to London?

Roughly 27 miles from the centre of London.

We’re gathering after a service at St Mary's Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Do you travel across Medway?

Medway is part of our area, including Burham. Ask for a quote.

Can you do gluten-free?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we will bring them. We’ll give you full allergen information for every dish.

When should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we will check.

Is our garden big enough?

It depends on the space and access more than size. Describe the space and we will tell you honestly.

Can we just hire the roaster?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We’ll confirm what comes with it and how to use it.

Is crockery included?

Plates are included. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Working with your venue

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

Booking for a club or group? A single point of contact keeps things simple, particularly when timings shift.

A closer look at the menu

Roast pork

Slow-roasted pork is the heart of the menu: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, straight from the roaster.

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which works well for larger groups.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone, so nobody stands at a grill all afternoon. See our guide to hog roast or barbecue. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

Why book with us

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Planned to your running order
  • We bring everything to cook and serve

See our pricing and the cost guide.

Looking after everyone

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them

You won’t need to worry about the food on the day. We get there early, cook, carve and serve, then clear up.

We also hire out the roaster for DIY hog roasts.

Bringing a hog roast to Burham

Thinking of a hog roast in Burham Marsh? Cooking in a park needs the owner’s permission, usually the council’s, and many parks do not allow it. If you’re organising a summer fair for a school like Burham Church of England Primary School, a hog roast is a crowd-pleaser.

Anywhere in ME1, we can roast on site for your guests, from busy streets to quiet lanes. Local streets include New Road, St Mary's Walk and Brisley's Row; an event on any of them works well with outdoor space and a way in. Close by, we cover events in Scarborough (1 mile north-west), Eccles (1 mile south), Peters Village (1 mile north-west), Holborough (2 miles west) and Wouldham (2 miles north-west). We also serve nearby towns such as Gillingham (5 miles north-east), Chatham (3 miles north-east), Rochester (4 miles north), Rainham (6 miles east), Strood (4 miles north) and Luton (4 miles north-east).

Our full booking checklist

How we price a hog roast

Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • Site access
  • Plates or china
  • How long the roast and service take
  • Distance from us

Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups normally cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and the cooking area, tell us:

  • Dietary requirements
  • Your date and serving time
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Rules from the venue or landowner

For a quote, send us a few details: the date and serving time, the venue or ME1 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Send us your details through our quote form.

Catered or do it yourself?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
