Hog roast hire in Forest Side

Hog roast hire in Forest Side, slow-roasted on site

We provide a fully catered hog roast: roasting, carving and serving are all done for you. For confident cooks, the machine can be hired on its own. Typical bookings include sports clubs and societies and corporate events, serving hog roast rolls, crackling and salads.

Somewhere as small as Forest Side, a field, yard or garden is often the spot. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and level, firm ground is the key. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

Step by step

Rain does not stop the roast, because we cook under cover. It is worth planning a sheltered place for people to eat, too. Light matters for a long roast: around Forest Side, it stays light until about 9:20pm at midsummer, but by late December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up under cover and start roasting.
  4. The chef carves and the team fills rolls or plates.
  5. We clear up and go.

Before we arrive

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival

Rotisserie chicken

Golden rotisserie chicken can be served in a roll or on a plate.

Before you choose a spot

Planning the cooking spot is the key. Check these:

  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat
  • Somewhere nearby to park our vehicle
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather

Forest Side is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we’ll plan the journey.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with food vans, a hog roast serves plenty of people from one roast, with no waiting for individual orders to cook. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Why Forest Side hosts choose us

  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Our staff serve and clear
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling

For event organisers in Forest Side

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep you both updated.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it is worth asking first. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.

Catered or do it yourself?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

What affects the price in Forest Side

Things that change the price:

  • Site access
  • The number of people
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site

Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we will suggest the best fit for your budget.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • Your menu choices
  • Allergies we should know about
  • Anything the venue has asked for

Not sure how many to cater for? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, then confirm closer to the date. Use our quote form.

Why choose hog roast hire in Forest Side?

How to compare hog roast caterers

Bringing a hog roast to Forest Side

Forest Side is about 1 mile north-west of Newport, in the Isle of Wight. We bring a hog roast to events anywhere in Forest Side, given a suitable outdoor cooking area. We cater 125 places in the Isle of Wight, from the larger towns to small villages. You can also see our page for Southampton, about 15 miles away.

Nearby historic houses include Carisbrooke Castle (1.3 miles south) and Swainston Manor (2.7 miles south-west). Estates like these tend to have strict rules for caterers, so check before you book. If you had Seaclose Park in mind, ask the council or landowner first: we cannot simply set up a roaster in a public park. Forest Side is within about 4 miles of the sea, and sea breezes can be strong. We think about wind when choosing the cooking spot and putting up the cover.

For events in PO30, we just need to know where the roaster can cook and a serving time. We can cater an event on streets such as Forest Road and Gunville Road or the roads around them, wherever there’s an outdoor spot for the roaster. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Hunny Hill (1 mile east), Parkhurst (1 mile north-east), Noke Common (1 mile north-east), Porchfield (2 miles north-west) and Locksgreen (2 miles west). Within a short drive, we also cover Ryde (7 miles east), Cowes (4 miles north), Sandown (8 miles south-east), Shanklin (8 miles south-east), Ventnor (9 miles south-east) and East Cowes (4 miles north-east). Some remote sites need extra planning, so contact us in good time.

A little further out are Carisbrooke Castle (1.3 miles south) and St Mary's Hospital (1 mile east). Green spaces nearby include Mill Hill and Briddlesford Nature Reserve.

  • Schools near Forest Side include Hunnyhill Primary School (0.7 miles east) and Island Innovation VI Form Campus (1.3 miles south-east)

Forest Side questions

Is Forest Side too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Can you roast near the sea around Forest Side?

Yes, of course. We roast under cover and choose a sheltered spot where we can.

What do people get?

Rolls with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.

Is our garden big enough?

It depends on the space and access more than size. Tell us about the garden and we will advise.

What happens after service?

Our staff clear the serving area, so you’re not left with the mess.

Do you cover Forest Side?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Forest Side and the Isle of Wight. Send us the address for a quote.

Can you roast in the rain?

Rain doesn’t stop the cooking. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

Is there a non-pork option?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
