Hog roast hire for Hamstreet

Hog roast hire in Hamstreet, carved to order

We provide a fully catered hog roast: roasting, carving and serving are all done for you. For confident cooks, the machine can be hired on its own. We are often asked to cater wedding breakfasts and evening food and garden parties and barbecues, with crackling, hog roast rolls and new potatoes.

Somewhere as small as Hamstreet, a field, yard or garden is frequently the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and level, firm ground is the key. Plates come as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

What a hog roast costs

Things that change the price:

  • The number of people
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Site access
  • The date and time of year

Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

What to tell us

For a quick, accurate price, tell us:

  • Roughly how many people
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • The address or postcode
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

Planning ahead? Popular dates fill up early, so ask early for summer Saturdays and December. Send us your date for a quote: use our quote form.

Working with your venue

If the event is on someone else’s land, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.

Looking after everyone

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages

We will be with you for a good part of the day, since slow roasting starts early.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

A hog roast or other catering?

The obvious catch is that a hog roast is pork. So we offer lamb, chicken and vegetarian and vegan choices too for anyone who does not eat it. Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups usually cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why us?

  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • Planned to your running order
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Carved to order by a chef

How it works

Expect a calm, organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we’ve agreed, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. Around midsummer it stays light in Hamstreet until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:50pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day we roast for hours, then carve to order.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage

Hamstreet: your questions answered

Which station is closest to Hamstreet?

Hamstreet has its own station: Ham Street station.

Is Hamstreet close to London?

About 51 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Is hog roast hire catered or DIY?

You can have us cook, or hire the machine. Your quote will set out what’s included.

What should we sort out beforehand?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

How does hog roast hire work?

You choose the date, the menu and the serving time; we do the rest. Just give us an outdoor spot to cook.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

Outside, always. Serving indoors is usually fine if the venue is happy.

Is our garden big enough?

Often, yes, if there’s a level, open spot away from the house and trees, and a way to wheel the equipment through. Send us a photo.

How far ahead should we book?

The earlier the better for popular dates. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.

Crackling

Crackling takes hours to get right, which is exactly what a slow hog roast gives it.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Soft rolls hold the pork, stuffing and apple sauce together, easy to eat standing up. Ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them.
