How our party hog roast works in Great Tew

If you’d rather cook yourself, DIY machine hire is an option. Most hosts prefer us to do it, and spend time with their guests. Typical bookings include street parties and summer parties in the garden, serving a vegan burger or sausage, rotisserie chicken and jacket potatoes.

A country party near Great Tew is perfect for a hog roast: roasted all afternoon and carved on the lawn. Plan shelter in case it rains. We bring plates as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

Occasions we serve in Great Tew

You’re a host, not a cook, because we do the cooking and serving.

Hosts in Great Tew book us for everything from small get-togethers to big outdoor events. For example:

  • Naming ceremonies
  • Family reunions
  • Engagement celebrations
  • Milestone birthdays

Christenings and naming days often start at a local church such as Church of St Michael and All Angels, with a hog roast at home or in a hall afterwards.

What to look for in a quote

  • How long the roast takes and when they’ll arrive
  • How many staff will carve and serve

Why choose a hog roast in Great Tew?

Compared with takeaway pizzas, a hog roast is part of the party, not just the food. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What you get with us

  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • An itemised quote
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Our staff serve and clear

See our prices page and our hog roast cost guide.

How it works

We roast under cover, so a shower will not spoil the food. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Evening parties in Great Tew need a little planning: daylight lasts until about 9:30pm at midsummer, but by late September it’s around 7:10pm. Lights by the food keep the party going.

  1. Show us the garden or drive.
  2. We confirm it works and send a quote.
  3. We cook for hours on site.
  4. We serve when you’re ready.
  5. We leave the garden tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Let us know about tight access
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment

Looking after everyone

Tell us about dietary needs early and we will help. Tips:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Add a dietary question to the invite
  • Count non-pork eaters for the alternatives

A cooked roast holds for a while, so just let us know.

Add chicken for younger or fussier guests.

How we price a hog roast for your party

There’s no fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • Whether you want china
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Time on site
  • Distance from us

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

Details that help

To check availability and the cooking area, we will need:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • The date and time of the event
  • Any venue rules

Not sure how many to cater for? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, and you can confirm nearer the time. Send us your details through our quote form.

Should I cook it myself?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.
