Party hog roast for Sunningwell
How our party hog roast works in Sunningwell
A party at home needs a little planning for the roaster: a level spot away from the house and trees, under cover. We will help you choose. We serve a vegan burger or sausage, coleslaw and apple sauce, and we’re often booked for retirement celebrations and close and cul-de-sac parties.
Near Sunningwell, parties are often in gardens or fields. Let us know about access, and we’ll plan the route. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

What happens on the day
Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. At midsummer, it is light in Sunningwell until about 9:25pm, so a garden party can run well into the evening. By late September sunset is around 7:10pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.

What we serve, dish by dish
Crackling
Good crackling needs time and heat, which is exactly what a slow hog roast gives it.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Soft rolls hold the pork, stuffing and apple sauce together, easy to eat standing up. Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Should I cook it myself?
A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.
Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you.
For planners, venues and organisers
If you are a venue or event planner, we are happy to work alongside your team.
Event organisers often ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

Common questions in Sunningwell
Could you cook in Albert Park?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.
Do you come out to small places like Sunningwell?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
What about kids?
Plain pork rolls go down well with children, and chicken or a vegan sausage covers fussy eaters.
Do we need to provide electricity?
The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.
Do you offer gluten-free rolls?
We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. We will give you full allergen information for every dish.
Do we need cover?
Not for the cooking, but a gazebo or indoor space for guests is a good backup.
Is our garden suitable?
Tell us about the garden and the access, and we will give you an honest answer.
Will you clear up afterwards?
We tidy the serving area, so there is very little washing up.

Questions to ask before you book
- Where the roaster goes and what it needs
- Any travel or access charges
- How they handle allergens and dietary needs
- How long the roast takes and when they’ll arrive
Is a hog roast right for your party?
Compared with takeaway pizzas, the roast is an event in itself. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. A simple menu keeps the cost down.
