Wedding hog roast for Ware

Wedding hog roast near Ware

Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. The hog roasts slowly at your venue through the afternoon, then carve at the time you’ve set. On the menu are carved roast pork, spit-roast lamb and halloumi skewers, and we are often booked for small, informal weddings and weddings in a family garden.

There is something special about a country wedding near Ware, and slow-roasted pork carved for guests adds to it. Plan a firm route in, especially if it rains. Plates come as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

What a hog roast costs

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Travel to Ware
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Plates or china
  • How long the roast and service take

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

What we need to know

The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Please include:

  • A picture of the cooking area
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Any venue rules
  • Roughly how many people

Send us the date, the address or CT3 postcode and rough numbers, along with your serving time. We will check the date and send a quote. Use our quote form.

Organising for someone else?

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and pass on anything they need from us.

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep you both updated.

Spit-roast lamb

Spit-roast lamb cooks slowly like the hog, carved to order at the serving station.

Crackling

Long, slow roasting turns the skin into crackling, and there’s a piece for everyone who wants it.

Questions from Ware

What’s the nearest station to Ware?

The closest is Minster station, roughly 2.9 miles away.

Is Ware too small for a hog roast?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Can a hog roast be our wedding breakfast?

It works well as a relaxed main meal, with lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside.

What should we sort out beforehand?

Only the space and a contact number. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

Can you do gluten-free?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Stuffing typically contains gluten, so check the allergen information.

Is mains power needed?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. Power can help with lighting after dark.

What happens in bad weather?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

Can we offer lamb too?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the hog.

How the day works

We take care of everything from the first hour of roasting to clearing away, so you can get on with your wedding in Ware. In Ware, midsummer sunset is about 9:15pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:00pm, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:50pm.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We set up and roast for hours.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

Before we arrive

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Think about shelter for your guests

Allergies and dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Give final numbers in good time
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us

Evening food usually goes out an hour or two after the first dance.

Gluten-free rolls can be provided for the evening food.

Space, access and the venue

Most outdoor spaces can work with a little planning. Here’s what helps:

  • A route to wheel equipment to the spot
  • Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed
  • Permission for outside catering

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

What we serve

Should I cook it myself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
