How our BBQ catering works in Arlington
The point of a catered barbecue is that you get to enjoy it. We look after the grill, the serving and the clearing, while you look after your guests. For relaxed weddings and evening receptions and fundraising days, we can cook chicken skewers, sausages and beef brisket for your guests.
In a small place like Arlington, a barbecue in a garden, a paddock or the village green with permission is frequently the plan. Tell us about lanes and ground, and we will handle the rest. You’ll know what’s included before booking: serving times, the menu, staff and anything else agreed, with no surprises on the day.

Diets, allergies and alternatives
Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:
- Think about who does not eat pork or beef so the menu has enough choice
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
- Ask about allergens in glazes and sauces
- Ask which items contain gluten
When everyone has eaten, we clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the spot tidy.
China crockery is available on request, at extra cost.
Planners, venues and businesses
If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers.
For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

A barbecue or other catering?
Next to a hog roast, a barbecue gives more choice, with beef, chicken and pork rather than one main meat. A hog roast is the bigger spectacle, so some events have both. What you choose to eat matters most: a simple menu costs less than one with brisket and ribs, so the quote shows each choice. Ask us to suggest a menu for your budget.
Why us?
- Vegetarian and vegan options as standard
- Planned to your running order
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
- Serving and clearing done for you

What happens on the day
Most barbecue food is cooked through service, so we arrive ahead of food time and cook to demand. That keeps everything hot and fresh. Evening barbecues in Arlington need a little planning: daylight lasts until about 9:15pm at midsummer, but by late September it goes at about 7:05pm. After dark, the serving table needs lighting.

Questions from Arlington
Can you do a barbecue at a venue in the South Downs National Park?
Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.
What’s the nearest station to Arlington?
Berwick (Sussex) station, about 1.2 miles west of the centre.
Is barbecued chicken safe?
Our chef cooks everything thoroughly, with raw and cooked food kept apart, in line with Food Standards Agency guidance.
Is the meat halal?
We do not offer halal. Our meat-free options are there, or halal food would need to be arranged separately.
Can we have a barbecue and a hog roast?
Yes. A hog roast gives you a centrepiece and the barbecue adds variety.
Do you do barbecues out of season?
Most barbecues are in summer, but we can cook in any season, with cover over the grill. Guests will want somewhere dry and warm.
Do you cater for vegetarians?
Yes. Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, and vegans get a vegan burger or sausage.
How far ahead should we book?
Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we’ll check.
What the cooking area needs
The grill needs flat ground outdoors and cover overhead. Here’s what helps:
- A spot where smoke won’t blow into the house or marquee
- Space away from the house, fences, sheds and trees
- The venue’s agreement for an outside caterer
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before booking.
