Why a catered barbecue beats doing it yourself
Instead of a takeaway delivery, a barbecue becomes part of the event, and the grill becomes a gathering point. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we will suggest the best fit for your budget.
Why us?
- Add a hog roast alongside
- Vegetarian and vegan options as standard
- Burgers, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and more
- Hot food straight off the grill

The process
Before service, we set up the grill and the serving table on the agreed spot. Then it is a case of cooking and serving through the time you’ve chosen. At midsummer, it’s light in Horden until about 9:15pm, so an evening barbecue can run late in daylight. By late September, sunset is nearer 7:00pm.
- Send us the date, the place and roughly how many.
- Choose your meats and sides.
- We confirm the cooking spot and send a quote.
- On the day, our chef cooks and our staff serve.
- We pack away and leave the area tidy.
Getting ready for the day
- Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
- Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
- Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat

Before you choose a spot
Most outdoor spaces work for a barbecue if a few things are right. A quick checklist:
- A wet-weather plan for your guests
- A spot where smoke won’t blow into the house or marquee
- A level spot in the garden, on the patio or drive
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
Popular choices
- Beef brisket
- Beef burgers
- Pulled pork
- Sausages
- Coleslaw
- Chicken skewers
- Jacket potatoes
- Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
- Salads
- BBQ ribs
- New potatoes
- Halloumi skewers (V)
How we price a catered barbecue
The biggest factors are:
- How easy it is to reach the spot
- Crockery choices
- Numbers
- Distance from us
The menu makes a big difference to the price: a simple menu costs less than one with brisket and ribs, so we list each item in the quote. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.
What to tell us
We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:
- Any dietary needs or allergies
- Your date and serving time
- An estimate of numbers
- Any venue rules
Numbers not final yet? Give us your best estimate and we’ll quote on that, then confirm closer to the date. Fill in our quote form.
Planning for dietary needs
Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:
- Mention any guests who avoid beef
- Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food
- Think about who does not eat pork or beef so the menu has enough choice
- Tell us about children’s numbers
Slow-cooked meats such as pulled pork and brisket are ready to serve from the start, so nobody waits for the first burgers.
China crockery is available on request, at extra cost.
Planning a barbecue in Horden
Horden is about 6 miles south-east of Paddock Wood, in Kent. We cover Horden and its neighbours for events. We bring barbecues to all 922 towns and villages across Kent. We cater events right across the region, from Horden to Canterbury (about 27 miles away).
If guests are travelling by rail, the closest railway station is Marden station, roughly 2.9 miles north of the centre. If you had The Gill in mind, ask the council or landowner first: barbecues are often restricted in parks. Horden is within about 4 miles of the High Weald National Landscape, a lovely setting for an outdoor barbecue. Some venues in protected landscapes have rules about open cooking and vehicles, so check with yours.
We cover events in every part of TN17 and TN12. Local streets include Hill Top and Husheath Hill; an event on any of them works well with outdoor space and a way in. We also bring barbecues to events in Colliers Green (1 mile south), Flishinghurst (2 miles south), Marden Thorn (2 miles north), Knox Bridge (2 miles east) and Cranbrook Common (3 miles east). Larger places within reach include Maidstone (9 miles north), Royal Tunbridge Wells (10 miles west), Tonbridge (11 miles north-west), Kings Hill (10 miles north-west), Foley Park (10 miles north) and Paddock Wood (6 miles north-west).
A little further out are Sissinghurst Castle (3.6 miles east) and Brattle Farm Museum (2 miles north-east).

How much choice do we need?
Three or four meats plus the vegetarian and vegan options suits most groups. Fewer items keeps service quick.

What does the venue need to provide?
Mostly space and access: somewhere level outside for the barbecue and the serving table. We’ll confirm details when we quote.

- Meat-free choices cooked separately
