How the day works

The barbecue goes on the agreed spot, so your event carries on around us. Smoke drifts, so we will think about the wind with you. A summer barbecue in Leeds stays light until about 9:15pm at midsummer, which gives a barbecue a long summer evening. By late September, sunset is nearer 7:00pm.

  1. Send a photo of where the barbecue could go.
  2. We confirm it works and send a quote.
  3. We grill outdoors at your event.
  4. Our team serves hot food through the agreed time.
  5. We clear up so you don’t have to.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Think about where the smoke will drift

Planning help

A barbecue or other catering?

Compared with a hog roast, a barbecue gives more choice, with beef, chicken and pork rather than one main meat. A hog roast is the bigger spectacle, so some events have both. What you choose to eat matters most: burgers and sausages cost less than brisket and ribs, so the quote shows each choice. Ask us to suggest a menu for your budget.

What you get with us

  • Served at the time you choose
  • Our chef at the grill, not you
  • Six meats to choose from
  • Add a hog roast alongside

Take a look at our prices page and menu ideas for your barbecue.

Planning the cooking spot

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work if a few things are right. Here’s what we look for:

  • A spot where smoke won’t blow into the house or marquee
  • A level lawn, patio or hard standing
  • Space for the barbecue and a serving table

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

From the grill

  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Sausages
  • Beef brisket
  • Beef burgers
  • Chicken skewers
  • BBQ ribs
  • Jacket potatoes
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Pulled pork
  • Coleslaw
  • New potatoes
  • Salads

Working with your venue

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Leeds questions

Do you cater at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

Do you come out to small places like Leeds?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Do you offer halal meat?

No, we don’t offer halal meat. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, or halal food can be arranged separately.

Do you do barbecues out of season?

Most barbecues are in summer, but we can cook in any season. Guests will want somewhere dry and warm.

Can you do a hog roast as well?

Yes. Many bigger events have both. Ask and we’ll quote for the mix.

Do you label the food for allergies?

Yes, ask us to label the food. Let us know about allergies before the day.

Do you cook the barbecue on site?

Yes, on site at your venue in Leeds. We need a level, open area outdoors with room for the grill and a serving table.

Do you need anything from us?

A level, open spot outdoors for the grill, with room for a serving table and a way in for our equipment. Let us know about the site and we’ll confirm what we need.
