Hog roast hire around Leeds

Leeds is about 4 miles east of Maidstone, in Kent. Leeds and the surrounding area are covered for events. Leeds is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent where we cater. We cater events right across the region, from Leeds to Canterbury (about 21 miles away).

After a service at St Nicholas's Church, the hog roast can be ready at a nearby hall or house. If guests are travelling by rail, the closest railway station is Hollingbourne station, roughly 1.6 miles north-east of the centre. The Kent Downs National Landscape is within about 2 miles of Leeds, and some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles on site. Check your venue’s rules on outside caterers.

Here we cover the ME17 postcode area, and we can cater your event anywhere in it. Streets in the area include Brogden Crescent, Forge Lane and Gloriette Avenue, and an event on any of them works with a garden, drive or yard for the roaster. For events just outside Leeds, we cover Ashbank (1 mile north-east), Broomfield (1 mile east), Eyhorne Street (1 mile north-east), Chartway Street (2 miles south) and Kingswood (2 miles south-east). Larger places within reach include Maidstone (4 miles west), Ashford (13 miles south-east), Sittingbourne (9 miles north-east), Tonbridge (15 miles west), Faversham (13 miles east) and Minster (15 miles north-east).

Nearby you’ll also find Leeds Castle (1 mile east) and KIMS hospital (3.4 miles north-west). Open spaces near Leeds include Detling Hill.

  • Nearby, you will find The George Inn (less than half a mile east)

How our hog roast hire works in Leeds

In Leeds, we cater birthdays, weddings, staff days and fêtes. Whatever the occasion, the format is the same: a slow roast on site, carved fresh and served by our team. We are often asked to cater corporate events and club events and presentations, serving new potatoes, coleslaw and hog roast rolls.

In a hamlet or village like Leeds, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good cooking spot. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. Plates come as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

What we serve, dish by dish

Crackling

For many people, the crackling is the best bit: golden, crunchy and salty.

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and it’s carved fresh as people come up.

Leeds: your questions answered

How far is Leeds from London?

About 35 miles from central London.

Is Leeds too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Can we have lamb or chicken?

The hog is the centrepiece, with lamb and chicken as extras.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can for summer weekends and December. Quieter dates can frequently be booked at shorter notice. Send your date and we’ll check.

How do we prepare?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.

What about coeliacs?

We can provide gluten-free rolls if you ask. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

What if it rains?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

What happens after service?

Our staff clear the serving area, so you are not left with the mess.

Why choose hog roast hire in Leeds?

People remember a hog roast. The smell, the carving and the crackling make it more than just food.

In Leeds and nearby, we cater for all sorts of events. Some of the most common are:

  • Milestone birthdays
  • Parties at home
  • Wakes and memorial gatherings
  • Weddings and receptions

For a fundraiser at a school like Leeds and Broomfield Church of England Primary School, the roaster can cook on a pitch agreed with the school.

Before booking anyone

  • VAT, if it applies
  • Where the roaster goes and what it needs
  • Which meats, sides and extras are included
  • How dietary needs are handled

Read the checklist

Should I cook it myself?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

What happens on the day

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. By late September, sunset in Leeds is around 7:00pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 3:50pm. After dark, a lit path to the food makes a difference.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We pack away and leave you to it.

Before we arrive

  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster

Working with your venue

Marquee suppliers typically set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We will keep everyone in the loop.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Next to a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone, so nobody stands at a grill all afternoon. Our guide compares the two. Distance is part of the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Tell us the exact address for an accurate figure.

Why Leeds hosts choose us

  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Served at the time you choose
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

Read how we price and the cost guide.

Looking after everyone

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages

We bring the cover, the carving table and the serving kit, so all you need is the space.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

What affects the price in Leeds

Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • The date and time of year
  • The journey to the venue
  • Numbers
  • Time on site

The main driver is numbers: bigger groups usually cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

What to tell us

Here’s what we will ask:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • The address or postcode
  • Your menu choices
