BBQ catering for Monkhams

For event organisers in Monkhams

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before booking. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.

BBQ catering for your event in Monkhams

BBQ catering means we bring the barbecue and do the cooking. Our chef grills on site in Monkhams, under cover, and our staff serve and clear. For 18th, 21st, 40th and 50th birthdays and club open days, we’ll put together a menu of chicken skewers, beef burgers and pulled pork.

From a family garden to an office courtyard, barbecues in Monkhams come in all shapes. Tell us how we get the equipment in, including steps, narrow gates and parking for our vehicle. Our staff serve and clear, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

Space, access and the venue

The grill needs flat ground outdoors and cover overhead. Here’s what helps:

  • The venue’s agreement for an outside caterer
  • A gazebo, marquee or room indoors as a back-up
  • Access through a gate or passage wide enough for our kit

As a London location, Monkhams is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

We give full allergen information for every dish. To make the most of it:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Tell us if anyone doesn’t eat beef
  • Tell us how many vegetarians and vegans to expect
  • Halal is not offered, so arrange it separately if needed

We set up on the spot we agreed and stay out of the way, so the event carries on around us.

Pulled pork and brisket make the menu feel more substantial.

Questions from Monkhams

What’s the nearest station to Monkhams?

Highams Park station, about 1.2 miles south-west of the centre.

Can you do a barbecue in The Highams Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

Do you label the food for allergies?

We can label dishes at the serving table. Tell us about allergies in advance.

Is crockery included?

We bring plates as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

What if it rains?

The barbecue cooks under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop it. Plan somewhere dry for your guests to eat.

What can we have at a catered barbecue?

Six meats, plus vegetarian and vegan options. Three or four meats is plenty for most groups.

Can we mix BBQ and hog roast?

We can. The hog roast feeds a crowd at once, and the barbecue adds choice.

How many meats should we choose?

Three or four meats plus the vegetarian and vegan options suits most groups. A shorter menu also speeds up service.

The process

The barbecue goes on the agreed spot, and the rest of the space is yours. We’ll place the grill so smoke drifts away from guests. Evening barbecues in Monkhams need a little planning: it is light until about 9:20pm in June but only about 7:05pm in late September. After dark, the serving table needs lighting.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check availability and the space for the barbecue and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day we arrive in good time, put the cover up and get the barbecue hot.
  4. At serving time, the chef grills and the team serves.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Arrange lighting for a late barbecue
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Name a contact for the day
