Organising for someone else?

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep everyone in the loop.

If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers.

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Halal is not offered, so arrange it separately if needed
  • Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food
  • Ask which items contain gluten
  • Ask about allergies when guests reply

We set up on the spot we agreed and stay out of the way, so the event carries on around us.

For a more filling menu, add pulled pork or brisket.

How the day works

When we arrive, we set up the barbecue on the agreed spot, put the cover up and get it hot. From there, we cook as your guests come up, worked around your serving time. A summer barbecue in World's End stays light until about 9:25pm at midsummer, which gives a barbecue a long summer evening. In late September, it is dark by about 7:10pm.

  1. Start with the occasion, the date and the venue.
  2. You get a suggested menu and a price.
  3. We set up the grill before food time.
  4. Hot food is served through the agreed time.
  5. We tidy up before we go.

How to prepare

  • Think about lights for the serving area after dark
  • Confirm your menu choices in good time
  • Include children in your numbers

How to get a price

Send us the date, the address or RG20 postcode and rough numbers, along with your serving time. We’ll check the date and send a quote. Send us your details through our quote form.

How to plan a catered barbecue

What we serve, dish by dish

Beef burgers

Burgers cook quickly on the grill, so they keep the queue moving.

Pulled pork

Because it is slow-cooked, pulled pork is ready as soon as we start serving, which keeps the queue moving.

Barbecue venues around World's End

World's End is about 6 miles north of Thatcham, in West Berkshire. We cater events of every size in World's End. If you’re organising a summer fair for a school like Beedon C.E. (Controlled) Primary School, a barbecue is a crowd-pleaser. World's End is within about 4 miles of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, a lovely setting for an outdoor barbecue. Venues there may restrict open cooking, so ask about their rules first.

Wherever your event is in RG20, we can cook on site for your guests. Streets in the area include Russet Way, Old Street and The Blossoms, and an event on any of them works with a garden, drive or yard for the barbecue. We also bring barbecues to events in Beedon (1 mile north), Downend (1 mile south-west), Chieveley (2 miles south-west), Peasemore (2 miles west) and North Heath (2 miles south-west). A barbecue or other catering?

Next to a hog roast, a barbecue offers more variety, with beef, chicken and pork rather than one main meat. A hog roast is the bigger spectacle, so for bigger events, why not both?. Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

Why us?

  • Planned to your running order
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Cooked on site by our chef
  • No surprises: everything in writing

Questions from World's End

Do you come out to small places like World's End?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Can you do a barbecue at a venue in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.

Do you have vegetarian and vegan options?

We do. Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, and vegans get a vegan burger or sausage.

What if it rains?

We cook under cover, so rain isn’t a problem for the food. Have a gazebo, marquee or room indoors for eating.

Will children like the BBQ?

Burgers and sausages are typically the children’s favourites, with a vegan sausage for any vegetarian children. Let us know numbers for children.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can frequently be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.

Can you label vegetarian and vegan food?

We give you allergen information for every dish, and we’ll label the meat-free choices clearly.

Do you bring plates and clear up?

Plates come as standard and our staff clear the serving area.

How we price a catered barbecue

Here’s what affects the price:

  • Access to the cooking area
  • Travel to World's End
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Plates or china

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we will suggest the best fit for your budget.

Details that help

To check the date and the space, we’ll need:

  • Dietary requirements
  • Where the event is
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Any venue rules
