Book a hog roast in Longcot

Catered or do it yourself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Christmas hog roast in Longcot, slow-roasted on site

We plan for winter weather: we cook under cover, and guests eat somewhere warm. Indoors or a heated marquee is ideal. For club and society Christmas parties and office Christmas parties, we’ll put together a menu of apple sauce, hog roast rolls and roast turkey.

In winter near Longcot, we need firm ground and light, as fields are often soft. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so you are not left handing out rolls.

Compared with a barbecue, slow roasting suits winter far better. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. Every event gets its own quote, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

The process

Here’s how the day normally runs: the roaster goes up and the hog goes on, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and we carve and serve at the agreed time. In December, it is dark in Longcot by about 4:00pm, so plan lighting for any party after mid-afternoon. We start in daylight and cook into the dark.

  1. Ask early for a December date.
  2. You get a quote with the menu.
  3. We arrive while it is light and set up under cover.
  4. We serve hot rolls and turkey if you’ve chosen it.
  5. We tidy up and leave.

Before we arrive

  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Send final numbers in good time
