Christmas hog roast in The Warren

Christmas hog roast in The Warren, carved to order

Winter weather is part of the plan: the roast is under cover; guests need somewhere dry. Indoors or a heated marquee is ideal. We are frequently asked to cater new Year parties and end-of-term celebrations, with roast turkey, roast potatoes and halloumi skewers.

At a festive party in The Warren, hot rolls from the roaster go down well on a dark December evening. You will know what’s included before booking: the date, the serving time, the menu and the plates.

For event organisers in The Warren

Event organisers often ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

What a hog roast costs

The biggest factors are:

  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Menu choices and extras
  • The number of people
  • Whether you want china

Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we will suggest the best fit for your budget.

Getting an accurate quote

FAQs for The Warren

Which station is closest to The Warren?

Martins Heron station, in The Warren itself.

Is The Warren close to London?

Roughly 28 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Do we need to provide electricity?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Tell us what’s available and we will plan around it.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

Can you work around our timings?

Within reason, we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll adjust.

What do you need from us on the day?

Only the space and a contact number. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.

Can you trade at our Christmas fair?

We do Christmas fairs and lights switch-ons. Tell us the pitch and how food will be paid for.

What about coeliacs?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information.

Is a hog roast right for your Christmas party?

Mix and match: turkey and pork together. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

Planning for dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Halal isn’t offered, so arrange it separately
  • Keep vegetarian food labelled
  • Stuffing usually contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Collect dietary needs with Christmas party sign-ups

We pack up whatever the weather.

Ask for china for a sit-down Christmas meal, quoted separately.

The process

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. By about 3:55pm in late December, The Warren is dark. A Christmas party in the evening means carving under lights.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the venue and send a price.
  3. On the day we arrive early and get the roast going.
  4. We carve and serve hot when you’re ready.
  5. We clear away, even on a dark, wet evening.

Getting ready for the day

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

Catered or do it yourself?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
