Looking after everyone

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Keep alternatives clearly labelled
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Find out how many do not eat pork, so we can bring chicken, lamb or vegetarian options
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans

At the agreed time, our chef carves and our staff serve, so people get back to work on time.

Tell us about branding or theming for open days.

The menu, dish by dish

Spit-roast lamb

Adding lamb gives people a choice of two roasts, which suits bigger events.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Soft rolls hold the pork, stuffing and apple sauce together, perfect for eating on the move. Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with sandwich platters, a hog roast is hot, fresh and feels like an event. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

What you get with us

  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • Timed around your day
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit

Take a look at our prices page or our hog roast cost guide.

How it works

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, use the cooking spot you’ve chosen, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. Open days in Bletchley normally finish in daylight, but in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so late events need lighting.

  1. Tell us where, when, how many and the serving time.
  2. We check site access and send a price.
  3. On the day we set up and roast through the morning.
  4. We serve quickly within your break.
  5. We tidy up and leave the site clean.

Before we arrive

  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before

DIY versus a catered hog roast

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
