What a hog roast costs
Things that change the price:
- The date and time of year
- Distance from us
- How long the roast and service take
- The number of people
The main driver is numbers: the price per head usually falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Do you come out to small places like Iping?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.
Can you work to our lunch time?
Give us your break time and numbers and we’ll plan around them.
How much does a hog roast cost?
Each event is priced on its own, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Ask us for a quote.
Do you do DIY hog roast hire?
Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
Is there a non-pork option?
The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. We don’t provide halal meat.

- Travel and any London charges
Planning for dietary needs
Rolls and stuffing usually contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. A few more tips:
- Tell us about vegetarians and vegans
- Label the vegetarian and vegan food
- Stuffing typically contains gluten, so check the allergen list
- Find out how many do not eat pork, so we can bring chicken, lamb or vegetarian options
Let us know about changes: a cooked roast can be held for a while.
Salads and coleslaw make it a fuller lunch.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Compared with a formal plated lunch, it’s less formal and normally costs less. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.
Why book with us
- Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
- Planned to your running order
- Choices for people who don’t eat pork
- Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
Organising for someone else?
For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.
Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll confirm what we can provide.
How it works
On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. For a staff lunch in Iping, daylight is not an issue, but a winter evening event is dark by about 4:00pm, so evening events need a lit cooking area. Summer events have daylight until around 9:20pm.
- We start with the site, date, numbers and lunch break.
- We check access and the cooking area, then quote.
- We arrive in good time and start the roast under cover.
- The team carves and serves on time.
- We tidy up and leave the site clean.
Before we arrive
- Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
- Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Have a level outdoor spot ready
