About our corporate hog roast in Littlebourne

Workplaces have rules, and we work to them: access, gas cooking and the cooking area. Tell us what your facilities team needs. On the menu are hog roast rolls, halloumi skewers and coleslaw, and we are frequently booked for long-service celebrations and staff thank-you lunches.

At country workplaces around Littlebourne, we can cook in the yard. Let us know about tracks and gates. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Littlebourne for staff days and open days

Littlebourne is about 4 miles east of Canterbury, in Kent. Hosts in Littlebourne book us for staff events of all sizes. Littlebourne is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent we cover.

For colleagues arriving by train, Bekesbourne station, about 1.5 miles south-west, is the nearest station. Among the historic houses close to Littlebourne are Goodnestone Park (3.5 miles south-east). Historic venues suit client days, but check their rules on gas cooking first.

We cater staff events across the CT3 postcode area. Streets in the area include Church Road, High Street and Jubilee Road, and a staff event on any of them works with a garden, drive or yard for the roaster. We also bring hog roasts to staff events in Ickham (1 mile east), Wickhambreaux (1 mile north-east), Seaton (1 mile north-east), Bramling (1 mile south-east) and Bekesbourne (2 miles south). Further out, we also cater in Canterbury (4 miles west), Margate (12 miles north-east), Dover (11 miles south-east), Folkestone (13 miles south), Ramsgate (12 miles east) and Broadstairs (13 miles north-east).

Nearby you will also find Canterbury Castle (3.9 miles west) and Canterbury Roman Museum (3.6 miles west). Within reach you’ll find West Blean and Thornden Woods.

  • Local pubs include The Basket Makers pub (within half a mile east)

What a hog roast costs

There’s no fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • How many people are eating
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

When comparing prices, compare the same things: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

What we need to know

When you contact us, it helps to include:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Rough numbers
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • Dietary requirements

Getting a quote is simple: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. You’ll get a clear quote listing what’s included. Use our quote form.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

The menu, dish by dish

Spit-roast lamb

Spit-roast lamb cooks slowly like the hog, and it is carved the same way.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Not everyone eats meat, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

The process

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. For a staff lunch in Littlebourne, daylight isn’t an issue, but a winter evening event is dark by about 3:50pm, so evening events need a lit cooking area. Summer events have daylight until around 9:15pm.

  1. Send us the site, date, numbers and break time.
  2. We check access and gas rules and quote.
  3. We set up early and roast through the morning.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve on time.
  5. We pack away and go.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage

Planning help

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to sandwich platters, a hog roast is hot, fresh and feels like an event. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

Why book with us

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Carved by our chef in front of your staff
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

FAQs for Littlebourne

Is Littlebourne close to London?

About 56 miles from central London.

What’s the nearest station to Littlebourne?

The closest is Bekesbourne station, roughly 1.5 miles away.

Is there a non-pork option?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t offer halal meat.

How long does the roast need?

Hours rather than minutes. You will know our arrival time in advance.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Do you provide china?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Do you cover Littlebourne?

Yes, Littlebourne is in our area. Send us the address and we’ll confirm availability.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.

For planners, venues and organisers

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.

Allergies and dietary needs

Some staff won’t eat pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans
  • Ask staff about dietary needs in advance
  • Share the allergen information with the team
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food

We clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the site as we found it.

China crockery is available for client events.

Planning the cooking spot

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:

  • Somewhere for staff to eat if it rains
  • Space away from buildings, vehicles and trees
  • A contact on site

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.
