Slow-roasted pork in Aldermaston

Film set catering in Aldermaston, carved to order

Crews in Aldermaston work long days, and lunch needs to be hot and on time. A hog roast works well at base: we roast from early and carve on the call. For period drama shoots and location days, we’ll put together a menu of new potatoes, a vegan option and salads and more.

Near Aldermaston, check tracks and ground with locations before the day. Our chef carves in front of your crew, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

Common questions in Aldermaston

Do you come out to small places like Aldermaston?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

What’s the nearest station to Aldermaston?

The closest is Aldermaston station, roughly 1.4 miles away.

How much room do you need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We’ll check it with you before booking.

Who serves?

We carve and serve for you, and we clear up when service is finished.

Do you cover Aldermaston?

Yes, Aldermaston is in our area. Send us the address and we will check the date.

Do you need power or water?

The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Can you do gluten-free?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we will bring them. You’ll get allergen details for everything.

What’s the price?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Send us the details and we will quote.

Prices and what affects them

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • How long the roast and service take
  • Whether you want china
  • The number of people

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.

What to tell us

When you enquire, it helps to include:

  • A picture of the cooking area
  • Rough numbers
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the shoot is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.

Looking after everyone

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Keep vegetarian food labelled
  • Post allergen details at base
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans
  • Tell us who does not eat pork

When lunch is called, we carve fast.

Add salads and potatoes for a full lunch.

How it works

The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We agree exactly where before the day. On a winter shoot near Aldermaston, the light goes by about 4:00pm, so the unit base needs lighting for late service. Summer shoots have daylight until about 9:25pm.

  1. You send the location, date and lunch call.
  2. We check the route and send a price.
  3. Our position and arrival are agreed in advance.
  4. When lunch is called, we carve and serve quickly.
  5. We pack up and leave the base tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
