Hog roast hire in RG7

Hog roast hire in RG7: what to expect

In RG7, we cater birthdays, weddings, staff days and fêtes. The idea is always the same: a slow roast on site, carved fresh and served by our team. We are often asked to cater festive gatherings and weddings and receptions, serving spit-roast lamb, new potatoes and hog roast rolls.

Service is quick once we start carving: the chef carves and the team serves, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away.

  1. You share the when, where and how many.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We clear up and go.

What it costs in RG7

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Our staff serve and clear
  • An itemised quote
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit

A hog roast across RG7: what to know

Burghfield Common: Historic houses near Burghfield Common include Stratfield Saye House (4.4 miles south-east). Historic venues often limit cooking on site, so ask early if you’re booking one. For a christening or gathering after a service at a church such as Church of St Mary, the roaster can be set up at a hall or home nearby. By late September, sunset in Burghfield Common is around 7:10pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 4:00pm. After dark, a lit path to the food makes a difference.

Is a hog roast right for you?

Compared with a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone, instead of food coming off the grill in batches. See our guide to hog roast or barbecue.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Arrival time and how long the roast needs
  • Whether plates or china are included
  • A clear list of what’s included
  • The space, cover and access they need

What a hog roast costs

Things that change the price:

  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The journey to the venue

The main driver is numbers: the price per head normally falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, please mention:

  • Dietary requirements
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Rough numbers
  • The address or postcode

When you are weighing up caterers, check what each quote actually includes. We spell it out in ours. For a quote, use our quote form.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We will fit in with site rules.

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Catered or do it yourself?

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Looking after everyone

Not everyone eats pork, so it’s worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option

You won’t need to worry about the food on the day. We get there early, cook, carve and serve, and our staff clear the serving area afterwards.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Questions from RG7

Is crackling included?

It is: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.

When do you start roasting?

It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it’s several hours. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat is not something we offer.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

Outside, always. Serving indoors is generally fine if the venue is happy.

What’s included?

Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

Do you serve the food?

We carve and serve for you, and we clear up when service is finished.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the spot as we found it.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
