Hog roast hire for your event in Wokefield

People book a hog roast in Wokefield for everything from birthdays to fêtes. The idea is always the same: slow roasting at your venue, then carving and serving. For wakes and Fêtes, fairs and shows, we will put together a menu of halloumi skewers, rotisserie chicken and spit-roast lamb.

Somewhere as small as Wokefield, a field, yard or garden is often the spot. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. Plates come as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Looking after everyone

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We arrive hours ahead, set up, roast, carve and serve, and our staff clear the serving area afterwards.

Ask for gluten-free rolls for anyone who needs them.

How the day works

We take care of everything from the first hour of roasting to clearing away, so you can enjoy your event. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: in Wokefield, sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 9:25pm in late June, but by late December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. You share the when, where and how many.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We clear up and go.

Getting ready for the day

  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Send final numbers in good time

Organising for someone else?

For venues and planners, we are happy to work alongside your team, sharing timings and a site plan.

Marquee suppliers normally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Planning the cooking spot

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Ideally:

  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Popular choices

  • Spit-roast lamb
  • Crackling
  • Salads

  • Apple sauce
  • New potatoes

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Should I cook it myself?

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with food vans, a hog roast feeds a crowd quickly from one roast. For larger numbers, a hog roast is generally good value, since one roast goes a long way. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

Why book with us

  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Choices for people who do not eat pork
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Served at the time you choose

How we price a hog roast

We work out each quote from:

  • How long the roast and service take
  • Whether you want china
  • How many people are eating
  • Distance from us

Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head normally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

What to tell us

When you contact us, it helps to include:

  • Roughly how many people
  • Your menu choices
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Your date and serving time

It’s easy to get a price: date, place, numbers and serving time. You’ll get a clear quote listing what’s included. Use our quote form.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
