Hog roast hire for your event in Pamber Heath

With hog roast hire, the cooking happens at your event, which means it is carved hot, with crisp crackling. Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options can go alongside. For sports clubs and societies and village fêtes and school fairs, we can cook coleslaw, salads and new potatoes.

In a hamlet or village like Pamber Heath, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good cooking spot. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. We plan the timings around your day, because the roast has to start hours before you eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

Organising for someone else?

Marquee suppliers generally set distances for cooking equipment, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We’ll fit in with site rules.

Looking after everyone

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages

Slow roasting needs attention, and that is what we are there for. You can relax and enjoy the day.

A second roast, lamb or chicken, gives people a choice, priced in the quote.

What the cooking area needs

We need room to cook safely and under cover. Before booking, check:

  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat
  • Vehicle access close to the cooking area
  • Any venue rules sorted in advance

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we serve, dish by dish

Stuffing and apple sauce

Sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce are the classic partners, cutting through the richness of the pork.

Spit-roast lamb

With lamb as well, there are two roasts to choose from, which works well for larger groups.

What’s the nearest station to Pamber Heath?

The closest is Bramley (Hants) station, roughly 3.1 miles away.

We are gathering after a service at Saint Luke's Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is usually elsewhere. Send us the address.

Do you cover the whole of Hampshire?

Hampshire is part of our area, including Pamber Heath. Ask for a quote.

Do you cover Pamber Heath?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Pamber Heath and Hampshire. Send us the address for a quote.

What should we sort out beforehand?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.

Do you serve the crackling?

Of course: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.

Can we have lamb or chicken?

It is built around the hog, with lamb and chicken as extras.

Is our garden big enough?

Many gardens are big enough, and a way to wheel the equipment through. Send us a photo.

What happens on the day

It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, use the cooking spot you’ve chosen, and get on with roasting and serving. In Pamber Heath, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. We arrive well ahead, put the cover up and get the hog roasting.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. We clear the serving area and pack away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking

How to compare hog roast caterers

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Next to a formal plated meal, a hog roast needs no kitchen and fewer staff, which often makes it better value. Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.
