Hog roast hire in Basingstoke

Hog roast hire for your event in Basingstoke

In Basingstoke, we cater birthdays, weddings, staff days and fêtes. Whatever the occasion, the format is the same: slow roasting at your venue, then carving and serving. Whether it’s festive gatherings and community events, we can cook crackling, new potatoes and hog roast rolls.

In a town the size of Basingstoke, a hog roast works at home, at hired venues and at work. If the venue is central, check its rules on gas equipment and access. Our staff serve and clear, so you are not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.

What a hog roast costs

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • Crockery choices
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Numbers
  • The date and time of year

Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What to tell us

Good details mean a good quote. Please include:

  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • Allergies we should know about
  • An estimate of numbers

Every event is quoted on its own, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Tell us about your event for a quote: use our quote form.

Looking after everyone

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations

Let us know if the day runs late: a cooked roast can be held for a while before carving.

We also hire out the roaster for DIY hog roasts.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls or plates? Rolls are quicker; plates suit a sit-down meal, and gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, a hot, filling option of their own.

Organising for someone else?

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it is worth asking first. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Next to a formal plated meal, a hog roast does not need a kitchen, which often makes it better value. UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. Every event gets its own quote, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

Why Basingstoke hosts choose us

  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it

Questions from Basingstoke

Is Basingstoke close to London?

Roughly 46 miles from the centre of London.

Could you cook in Eastrop Park?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Ask them first.

What if things run late?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Do you travel across Hampshire?

All of Hampshire is in our area. Send us the address and we will quote.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. We do not offer halal meat.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, for confident cooks. Ask and we will talk you through it.

Can you do gluten-free?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

What should we sort out beforehand?

Only the space and a contact number. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you.

How it works

On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Light matters for a long roast: around Basingstoke, it stays light until about 9:25pm at midsummer, while in December the light goes at about 4:00pm.

  1. You tell us the date, the address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
  4. We carve and serve when you’re ready to eat.
  5. We clear the serving area and pack away.
