Film set catering in Stanford
About our film set catering in Stanford
There are options for crew who don’t eat pork, and we provide allergen information for every dish. We are often asked to cater unit base lunches and end-of-shoot wraps, serving new potatoes, salads and hog roast rolls.
Rural locations near Stanford can be a long way from food, so lunch at base matters. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

Planning a shoot in Stanford

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Next to shop-bought sandwiches, hot food makes a difference on a long day. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.
Why us?
- The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
- Serving and clearing done for you
- We bring everything to cook and serve
- Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
For planners, venues and organisers
Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before booking. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.
Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Let us know what your event requires and we will confirm what we can provide.
Planning the cooking spot
The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Look for:
- A route for our vehicle
- A covered eating area
- One contact for the day
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.
What we serve
- Halloumi skewers (V)
- Spit-roast lamb
- Vegan option (Ve)

Step by step
When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. At midsummer, daylight in Stanford lasts until about 9:15pm, so a wrap party can run into the evening.
- Production sends us the location and call times.
- We check access to base and quote.
- The roast starts early.
- We serve when lunch is called.
- We pack away straight after.
Getting ready for the day

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw
Salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes turn rolls into a full meal, especially at a sit-down event.
Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
Let us know numbers for the vegan option, and we’ll bring enough vegan burgers or sausages.
Allergies and dietary needs
Rolls and stuffing usually contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. A few more tips:
- Ask the production office for dietary needs
- Post allergen details at base
- Keep vegetarian food labelled
- Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
When lunch is called, we carve fast.
Ask for gluten-free rolls.
What a hog roast costs
Things that change the price:
- Season and day of the week
- How many people are eating
- Whether you want china
- Which meats and sides you choose
The main driver is numbers: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.
Details that help
To check the date and the space, tell us:
- Where the event is
- Dietary requirements
- Rules from the venue or landowner
- Rough numbers

Stanford questions
What about windy coastal sites?
Yes. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.
Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the Kent Downs National Landscape?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.
Do you do DIY hog roast hire?
Yes, for confident cooks. We’ll explain the details with your quote.
Is there a non-pork option?
There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We do not offer halal meat.
What space does the roaster need?
Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. Send us a photo if you are unsure.
Do you need much space at base?
Not much: a level area at base.
Do you bring plates?
Plates are included. China is available at an extra cost.

We work to your schedule.
- Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
