Hog roast for events in Ashley, slow-roasted on site

For a school fair, you want food families will queue for. There are options for most visitors. We’re often asked to cater vintage rallies and community events, with halloumi skewers, a vegan burger or sausage and apple sauce.

For a village fête or field event near Ashley, we can cook in a field. Ground and access matter, so tell us about them. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

Prices and what affects them

Each price is built from:

  • Menu choices and extras
  • Numbers
  • Whether you want china
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.

What we need to know

To check availability and the cooking area, we’ll need:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Allergies we should know about
  • An estimate of numbers
  • Your date and serving time

Numbers not final yet? Give us your best estimate and we will quote on that, then confirm closer to the date. Send us your details through our quote form.

Planners, venues and businesses

Planning on behalf of a committee? A single point of contact keeps things simple, especially on the day.

Marquee suppliers generally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Catered or do it yourself?

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

How it works

Slow roasting is the whole point: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin turns into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. At midsummer, events in Ashley stay light until about 9:15pm, which helps evening trading. For winter events, dark by about 3:50pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. You tell us the event, the pitch and the expected crowd.
  2. You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
  3. On the day we set up under cover and get the hog on.
  4. We carve and serve through the agreed hours.
  5. We pack up and leave the pitch tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains

What we serve, dish by dish

Roast pork

We carve as we serve, which keeps it hot and moist right to the last roll.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls or plates? Rolls are quicker; plates suit a sit-down meal, with gluten-free rolls on request.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Next to a burger van, a hog roast feels more special at a traditional fête. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

What you get with us

  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Carved by our chef in front of your visitors
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours

Do you come to Ashley?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Ashley and Kent. Send us the address for a quote.

How much will it be?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Tell us your date and we will send a price.
