Looking after everyone

Tell us about dietary needs early and we will help. Some ideas:

  • Tell us if there is a vegetarian or vegan focus
  • Remember stuffing typically contains gluten
  • Put the menu and allergen information on display
  • Balance the food line-up

If the ground is soft, we will need a firm route on and off, particularly in wet weather.

Ask about gluten-free rolls.

Full catering or machine hire?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

The process

Slow roasting is the whole point: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin turns into crackling. It rests for a short while before carving. Summer events in Chapel Row have daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer and about 7:00pm by late September, so evening trading usually finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter fairs, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. Organisers send us the event details.
  2. We confirm the pitch and send a price.
  3. The roast starts before the gates open.
  4. We carve to order through the day.
  5. We pack down and take our waste.

How to prepare

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready

Planning help

Why choose a hog roast in Chapel Row?

For big events, tell us expected numbers, so we can plan. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why Chapel Row hosts choose us

  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Served at the time you choose
  • We bring everything to cook and serve

Working with your venue

If you’re a venue or event planner, we’re happy to work alongside your team, sharing timings and a site plan.

Marquee suppliers generally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

About the food

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some visitors will be vegetarian, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

A plant-based burger or sausage covers vegans, in a roll, with salad on the side.
