About our hog roast for events in Eton

Festivals and shows run for hours, and a hog roast can serve through the day, carving as the queue grows. We serve halloumi skewers, rotisserie chicken and crackling, and we’re frequently booked for community events and horse and dog shows.

For a village fête or field event near Eton, we can cook in a field. Ground and access matter, so tell us about them. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

Eton: your questions answered

Do you come out to small places like Eton?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Could you cook in The Goswells?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

What happens in bad weather?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Your visitors will want somewhere dry to eat.

How much room do you need?

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, and a way to wheel everything in. Send us a photo if you are unsure.

What if things run late?

Within reason, we can. Give us a contact on the day and we’ll fit around changes.

Can visitors buy their own food?

It depends on how your event works. Let us know how you’d like it to work and we will discuss the options.

How soon do you get booked up?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Ask and we’ll check.

Do we need our own staff?

No need for your own staff: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to volunteers cooking, a professional hog roast frees up your helpers. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

What you get with us

  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • We bring everything to cook and serve

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Christmas fairs and lights switch-ons in Eton are dark by about 3:55pm, so the pitch needs good lighting and a clear route for the queue.

  1. Organisers send us the event details.
  2. We check the pitch and paperwork and quote.
  3. We set up early on the pitch.
  4. We serve as visitors arrive.
  5. We pack down and take our waste.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before

Looking after everyone

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Plan separately for halal if needed
  • Put the menu and allergen information on display
  • Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian
  • Balance the food line-up

We follow the organiser’s site rules, including vehicle times and pitch layout.

Coleslaw goes well with pork rolls.

How we price a hog roast for your event

Each price is built from:

  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • How long the roast and service take
  • Travel to Eton
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

What we need to know

For a quick, accurate price, send us:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Dietary requirements
  • The venue or postcode
  • Which meats and sides you’d like

Busy weekends book up early, especially summer Saturdays and December Fridays. Tell us your date and we will check it: use our quote form.

Catered or do it yourself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

What we serve, dish by dish

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Vegan visitors can have a vegan burger or sausage, so everyone has something hot.

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie chicken is there for anyone who’d rather not have pork, and it suits fussy eaters.
