Slow-roasted pork in Grain
How our hog roast for events works in Grain
At a fun run or tournament, a hog roast feeds hungry competitors. For vintage rallies and food and music festivals, we can cook hog roast rolls, rotisserie chicken and crackling for your visitors.
A fête near Grain might be on a field with no mains power; the roaster runs on gas, so that is fine. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
A hog roast alongside cakes and teas makes a good food line-up. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.
Why Grain hosts choose us
- Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
- Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
- A clear quote with everything listed

The process
When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Christmas fairs and lights switch-ons in Grain are dark by about 3:50pm, so plan lights for the stall and the queue.
- Share the date, site and expected crowds.
- We agree how food will be paid for.
- We arrive and set up under cover.
- Carving keeps the queue moving.
- We clear up and go.
How to prepare
- Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
- Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
- Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

What a hog roast costs
We work out each quote from:

- Time on site
- Access to the cooking area
- Distance from us

Details that help
We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:
- The venue or postcode
- What the outdoor space is like
- The date and time of the event
- Roughly how many people
When you are weighing up caterers, check what each quote actually includes. We spell it out in ours. For a quote, use our quote form.
Planning the cooking spot
A good cooking spot makes the day run smoothly. Look for:
- Permission for cooking on the site
- Space away from marquees, stalls and trees
- A vehicle route onto the pitch
If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.
