Hog roast for events near Minster
How the food is paid for depends on the event: a package or a pay-as-you-go stall. Let us know what you have in mind. On the menu are crackling, hog roast rolls and halloumi skewers, and we are regularly asked to cater car and steam shows and school fairs and sports days.
Rural events near Minster can be a long way from anywhere to eat, so a hog roast is a welcome sight. The hog is roasted on site at your event, low and slow, for hours.

Full catering or machine hire?
You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Minster questions
Do you come out to small places like Minster?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
What about windy coastal sites?
Yes, of course. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.
How much does a hog roast cost?
Every booking is quoted individually, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your event for a quote.
Is it pay as you go?
It depends on how your event works. Tell us what you have in mind and we will discuss the options.
Do you do charity events?
Tell us about the event and how you’d like to raise money, and we will suggest a way to make it work.
Can you come to a PTA fair?
Yes, with the school’s permission. Tell us the date and pitch.
What do you need from the organiser?
Just a pitch, access and any agreed paperwork. We bring the rest.
What paperwork do you provide?
Tell us what your event requires, and we’ll tell you what we can send.
The process
The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. Late-May events in Minster have light until about 8:45pm, while at midsummer it is about 9:15pm. After dark, the stall needs lighting.
- You tell us the event, the pitch and the expected crowd.
- We check the pitch and any paperwork, then quote.
- We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting.
- We carve and serve through the agreed hours.
- We pack up and leave the pitch tidy.
How to prepare
- Give us a contact number for the day
- Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
- Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

Prices and what affects them
The biggest factors are:
- The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
- Whether you want china
- The date and time of year
- The number of people
Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups usually cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.
What we need to know
When you contact us, it helps to include:
- Rough numbers
- The address or postcode
- Which meats and sides you’d like
- Anything the venue has asked for
The quickest way to get a price is to send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Use our quote form.
Planners, venues and businesses
Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so check before booking. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.
Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.
Diets, allergies and alternatives
A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:
- Halal isn’t offered
- Balance the food line-up
- Tell us what the event asks of traders
- Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian
We follow the organiser’s site rules, including vehicle times and pitch layout.
If your event has a theme, tell us.
