Hog roast for events for Queen Street

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in Queen Street

Is Queen Street close to London?

About 31 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Is Queen Street too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Do you need power on site?

Mainly a pitch and access. We bring the rest.

Will there be enough to go round?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we’ll confirm everything in writing.

Do you need power or water?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Let us know what’s on site.

Can we just hire the roaster?

DIY machine hire is available. We’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Where does the hog roast go?

A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. A photo helps.

Can a hog roast raise money?

Let us know your plans, and we’ll suggest options.

Hog roast for events near Queen Street

A hog roast fits a village fête perfectly: people follow their noses, and rolls are easy to eat while walking round. Popular choices include apple sauce, hog roast rolls and halloumi skewers, and typical bookings are for charity days and horse and dog shows.

Near Queen Street, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a hog roast is a welcome sight. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

The process

The roaster cooks outdoors, on a level, open spot under cover, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We agree exactly where before the day. Late-September events in Queen Street lose the light at about 7:00pm, so plan lighting if you’re trading into the evening.

  1. Organisers send us the date, site, numbers and how food will be paid for.
  2. We check access to the pitch and send a price.
  3. We set up early so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.
  4. We carve and serve through the agreed hours.
  5. We pack up and leave the pitch tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

Planning help

Looking after everyone

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Here’s how to cover everyone:

  • Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if you expect coeliac visitors
  • Halal is not offered
  • Signpost the stall clearly

We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting, so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.

Ask about gluten-free rolls.

The menu, dish by dish

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and our chef carves it to order.

Crackling

Crackling is what people queue for: golden, crunchy and salty, straight off the hog.

What the cooking area needs

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, so a few things are worth checking:

  • Room for a queue that doesn’t block paths
  • Event approval for hot-food traders
  • A firm way on and off the field

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

From the roaster

  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Crackling
  • Coleslaw
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Stuffing and apple sauce

Catered or do it yourself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

What affects the price in Queen Street

Each price is built from:

  • Plates or china
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Numbers
  • Access to the cooking area

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

What we need to know

When you contact us, please mention:

  • Allergies we should know about
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • The address or postcode
  • Your menu choices

We price every booking individually, based on numbers, menu, timings and distance. Tell us about your event for a quote: use our quote form.
