Hog roast for events in Southend

Hog roast for events in Southend, slow-roasted on site

Sports clubs, fun runs and tournaments suit a hog roast, served as people finish. For community events and PTA summer fairs, we’ll put together a menu of a vegan burger or sausage, crackling and apple sauce for your visitors.

Near Southend, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a hog roast goes down well. Our staff serve and clear, so nobody in your party has to serve.

Full catering or machine hire?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Before you choose a spot

It’s worth planning the cooking area in advance. We look for:

  • Details of what the event requires
  • A level pitch
  • A queuing area

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

On the menu in Southend

  • Halloumi skewers (V)

What a hog roast costs

Things that change the price:

  • Whether you want china
  • How many people are eating
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Time on site

What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what we will ask:

  • Rough numbers
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Allergies we should know about
  • Your menu choices

Send us the date, the address or RG7 postcode and rough numbers, along with your serving time. We will confirm availability and send a price. Send us your details through our quote form.

How it works

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. In late May, sunset in Southend is about 8:55pm, while at midsummer it is about 9:25pm. Evening festivals need lighting by the stall after that.

  1. Start with the date and numbers.
  2. We discuss the package or stall options.
  3. We roast on the pitch.
  4. Carving keeps the queue moving.
  5. We tidy the pitch.

Getting ready for the day

  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Think about shelter for your visitors
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
