About our hog roast for events in Stocks Green
Charity fundraisers in Stocks Green can use a hog roast to draw people in. We’ll talk through options with you. We’re frequently asked to cater community days and street fairs and PTA summer fairs, with rotisserie chicken, a vegan burger or sausage and hog roast rolls.
At a fête or show near Stocks Green, we can cook in a field. Ground and access matter, so tell us about them. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours, then carved fresh for your visitors.
Questions from Stocks Green
Which station is closest to Stocks Green?
Hildenborough station, in Stocks Green itself.
Can you do a hog roast in Haysden Country Park?
Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.
Who serves?
No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.
Do you do charity events?
Get in touch.
Do we need to provide electricity?
Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Let us know what’s on site.
Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?
We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. Ask and we will talk you through it.
What space does the roaster need?
A flat, open spot outside, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. A photo helps.
Can visitors buy their own food?
It depends on how your event works. Let us know how you’d like it to work and we will talk it through.
Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Next to a burger van, a hog roast stands out at a traditional fête. Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.
Why us?
- Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
- Crackling for everyone who wants it
- Staff to serve, so you do not have to
- A choice of salads and potatoes

Catered or do it yourself?
If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.
Planning the cooking spot
The cooking area is the main thing to plan. Check these:
- A level pitch with firm ground
- Space for people to queue
- Clearance from other stalls and tents
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.
From the roaster
- Coleslaw
- Stuffing and apple sauce
- Crackling
- Halloumi skewers (V)
- Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
- Hog roast rolls
- Rotisserie chicken
What we serve, dish by dish
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Soft rolls hold the pork, stuffing and apple sauce together, easy to eat standing up. Gluten-free rolls are available on request.
Stuffing and apple sauce
Apple sauce brings sweetness and sharpness go with the pork perfectly. Note that stuffing typically contains gluten.
Allergies and dietary needs
Tell us about dietary needs early and we’ll help. Tips:
- Plan separately for halal if needed
- Stuffing normally contains gluten
- Check other traders are not all selling pork
- Show allergens at the stall
We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting, so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.
If your event has a theme, tell us.
What happens on the day
On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. At midsummer, events in Stocks Green stay light until about 9:20pm, so evening trading normally finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter fairs, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.
- Tell us about the event.
- We check the pitch and paperwork and quote.
- The roast starts before the gates open.
- We serve as visitors arrive.
- We leave the pitch clean.
Preparing for the day
- Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
- Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
- Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
