Hog roast hire in Afton

Hog roast hire in Afton, carved to order

Our hog roast hire is fully catered: roasting, carving and serving are all done for you. If you’d rather do it yourself, we also hire out the machine. Popular choices include halloumi skewers, hog roast rolls and salads, and we are often booked for festive gatherings and clubhouse events.

Somewhere as small as Afton, a field, yard or garden is frequently the spot. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. Our staff serve and clear, so you are not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.

What we serve, dish by dish

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, and salads and new potatoes work well on a plate.

Stuffing and apple sauce

No hog roast roll is complete without sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, cutting through the richness of the pork.

Looking after everyone

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • Find out who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Put the menu on the invitation

The roaster needs looking after for hours, and that’s what we’re there for. You can get on with your event.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Afton: your questions answered

Do you come out to small places like Afton?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

What about windy coastal sites?

Yes. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. Ask and we will talk you through it.

Do you serve the food?

We carve and serve for you, and we clear up when service is finished.

Is it just pork?

It’s built around the hog, with lamb and chicken as extras.

Do you clear up?

We pack everything away after service, and we take our equipment with us.

What about coeliacs?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. We’ll give you full allergen information for every dish.

How much does a hog roast cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Send us the details and we will quote.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a cold buffet, hot roast pork carved in front of you is a different experience. Buffets can sit out for hours. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

The process

Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. In Afton, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 4:05pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you’re ready to eat.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Getting ready for the day

  • Think about shelter for your guests
  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees

What affects the price in Afton

Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:
