Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
Next to a buffet, hot roast pork carved in front of you is a different experience. A buffet can sit out all afternoon. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.
Why us?
- Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

Before you choose a spot
Planning the cooking spot is the key. Check these:
- A safe distance from walls, tents and trees
- Access for our equipment, without steps
- The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What comes off the roaster
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Rolls or plates? Rolls are quicker; plates suit a sit-down meal, with gluten-free rolls on request.
Salads, potatoes and coleslaw
Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, while salads and potatoes make a plated meal.
Working with your venue
Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it’s worth asking first. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.
For workplace bookings, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.
Questions from Brunswick
Can you cater after a service at St Stephen's Church?
Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is usually elsewhere. Send us the address.
Could you cook in St. Ann's Well Gardens?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.
Is our garden big enough?
It depends on the space and access more than size. Describe the space and we will tell you honestly.
How long does the roast need?
It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it’s several hours. You’ll know our arrival time in advance.
Do you cook it or do we?
We offer full catering and DIY machine hire. Your quote will set out what’s included.
Does the roaster have to be outside?
Outside, always. Serving indoors is generally fine if the venue is happy.
Is crackling included?
Of course: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.
Do you need power or water?
Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we will plan around it.
How the day works
People love watching the carving: the hog is carved in front of your guests, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. Around midsummer it stays light in Brunswick until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is typically in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.
- First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
- You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
- On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
- We carve and serve when you’re ready to eat.
- Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.
How to prepare
- Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
- Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
- Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
How to get a price
When you’re weighing up caterers, ask each one exactly what’s included. Ours lists it clearly. For a quote, use our quote form.

Diets, allergies and alternatives
You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:
- Remember that stuffing normally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list
- Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
- Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
- Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, and order an alternative for them
If timings shift, tell us: we can hold the roast for a while.
We also hire out the roaster for DIY hog roasts.

Catered or do it yourself?
The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.
You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
- Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
- Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
- Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
- Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
