Slow-roasted pork in Camden Town

Planning a hog roast in Camden Town

Camden Town is about 2 miles north of City of Westminster, in Greater London. From village halls to gardens and fields, events around Camden Town suit a hog roast. Camden Town is one of 764 places in Greater London we cover.

Within reach of Camden Town are historic houses such as Winfield House (1.2 miles south-west) and Keats House (1.6 miles north-west). Historic venues often limit cooking on site, so ask early if you’re booking one. A green space like Lewis Cubitt Park is tempting, but a gas-fired roaster there needs the landowner’s say-so, typically the council’s.

Here we cover the NW1, N1C, NW5 and NW3 postcode area, and we can cater your event anywhere in it. From Camden High Street, Greenland Road and Camden Road or anywhere nearby, we can set up and roast there. With the A400 and B512 close by, Camden Town is easy for us to reach for your event. Nearby, we also cater events in Agar Town (1 mile east), Kentish Town (1 mile north-west), Chalk Farm (1 mile north-west), Somers Town (1 mile south-east) and Primrose Hill (1 mile west). Further out, we also cater in London (3 miles south-east), Kensington (4 miles south-west), Shoreditch (3 miles east), Walthamstow (6 miles north-east), Whitechapel (3 miles south-east) and Ruislip (12 miles west).

A little further out are Brunswick Centre (1.3 miles south-east) and Central Saint Martins Museum & Study Collection (0.7 miles south-east). The countryside around Camden Town includes St. James's Park Lake and Adelaide Nature Reserve.

  • Nearby schools include North Bridge House School (less than half a mile south-west) and The Camden School for Girls (0.5 miles north-east)
  • Local pubs include The Camden Eye pub (less than half a mile south-west)
  • Parks and local facilities nearby include Vaughan Williams Memorial Library (under half a mile west) and Metropolitan Borough of Hampstead (1.3 miles north-west)

About our hog roast hire in Camden Town

A hog roast is one of the simplest ways to feed a crowd in Camden Town: one roast, slow-cooked for hours, carved in front of everyone. Everything comes with us, and our staff serve and clear. Typical bookings include village fêtes and school fairs and clubhouse events, serving rotisserie chicken, halloumi skewers and hog roast rolls.

In a London neighbourhood like Camden Town, the big question is getting the roaster to the cooking spot. If there is no side passage, a rear gate, yard or communal space may work, and send us a photo. You’ll know what’s included before booking: the date, the serving time, the menu and the plates, with no surprises on the day.

A hog roast or other catering?

Catered or DIY? With catering we roast, carve and serve; with hire you do the cooking. Most hosts choose catering for anything bigger than a family party. Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote. Tell us the exact address so the quote is accurate.

Why Camden Town hosts choose us

  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Staff to serve, so you do not have to
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it

See how we price and what a hog roast costs.

Working with your venue

Marquee suppliers normally set distances for cooking equipment, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

If the event is on someone else’s land, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

Allergies and dietary needs

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests

Let us know if the day runs late: we can hold the roast for a while.

We can supply china instead of standard plates, at an extra cost.

Who books hog roast hire in Camden Town?

It’s generous, hearty food that most people love, and lamb, chicken and vegetarian options look after the rest.

Lots of different events suit a hog roast. Typical bookings include:

  • Weddings and receptions
  • Christmas parties
  • Wakes
  • Clubhouse events

Churches such as St Michael's Church rarely have room for a roaster, but a hall or home close by usually does.

Before booking anyone

  • Allergen information for every dish
  • Exactly what’s included in the price

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:

  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • Somewhere nearby to park our vehicle

As a London location, Camden Town is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.

About the food

Stuffing and apple sauce

Apple sauce brings sweetness and sharpness are the traditional pairing. Stuffing normally contains gluten.

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and our chef carves it to order.

The process

When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. Around midsummer it stays light in Camden Town until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up under cover and start roasting.
  4. The chef carves and the team fills rolls or plates.
  5. We clear up and go.

Getting ready for the day

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
