About our hog roast hire in Henhurst

Booking a hog roast means you do not have to cook. We get there early, put up the cover and roast for hours, then carve and serve at the time you choose. We serve coleslaw, halloumi skewers and hog roast rolls, and we are regularly asked to cater work summer parties and sports clubs and societies.

In a rural place like Henhurst, roast pork in a field is hard to beat. Tell us about gates, tracks and the ground. We bring plates as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

Your questions about a hog roast in Henhurst

What’s the nearest station to Henhurst?

The closest is Sole Street station, roughly 1.3 miles away.

Is Henhurst too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Do we need a big space?

Many gardens are big enough, as long as we can get the equipment in. Send us a picture.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.

Do you need power or water?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat is not something we offer.

Is all of Kent covered?

We cover Kent and the rest of London and the South East. Tell us the venue and we will quote.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We’ll be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we will adjust.

Prices and what affects them

Your quote depends on:

  • The date and time of year
  • Travel to Henhurst
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • How long the roast and service take

What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

Getting an accurate quote

When you contact us, please mention:

  • Where the event is
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Roughly how many people
  • A picture of the cooking area

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, along with your serving time. We will check the date and send a quote. Fill in our quote form.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Catered or DIY? Catering means we do everything; DIY hire means you roast and carve yourself. For bigger events, catering is generally the easier choice. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we will suggest the best fit for your budget.

Why us?

  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • Choices for people who do not eat pork

Read our pricing and what a hog roast costs.

Catered or do it yourself?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

How the day works

The roaster is gas-fired, so we do not need mains power to cook. Around midsummer it stays light in Henhurst until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is usually in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. We arrive well ahead, put the cover up and get the hog roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival

  • A sheltered place for people to eat if it rains
  • A step-free route to wheel the equipment in
  • Parking near the spot

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.
