Hog roast hire in Langstone

Organising for someone else?

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, let us know who we will deal with on the day. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.

For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

How our hog roast hire works in Langstone

Booking a hog roast means you do not have to cook. We arrive hours before you eat, set up under cover and roast slowly, ready to carve when you are. For wedding breakfasts and evening food and wakes, we will put together a menu of spit-roast lamb, salads and coleslaw.

For a rural spot like Langstone, a hog roast feels right at home. Tell us about gates, tracks and the ground. Our staff serve and clear, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Catered or DIY? Catering means we do everything; DIY hire means you roast and carve yourself. Most hosts choose catering for anything bigger than a family party. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Why book with us

  • Choices for people who do not eat pork
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Served at the time you choose
  • A choice of salads and potatoes

Take a look at our prices page or our hog roast cost guide.

  • The deposit, balance and cancellation terms

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Looking after everyone

Some guests will not eat pork, so plan an alternative. A few pointers:

  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them

You will not need to worry about the food on the day. We arrive hours ahead, set up, roast, carve and serve, then clear up.

China crockery is available on request, at an extra cost.

What we serve, dish by dish

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Our vegan option is a vegan burger or sausage, served in a roll with salads.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers make sure they’re not left with just salad.

What happens on the day

Carving is part of the show: our chef carves the pork in front of the queue, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. In Langstone, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Gather dietary requirements early

Prices and what affects them

We work out each quote from:

  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Distance from us
  • How many people are eating

The main driver is numbers: the price per head typically falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and the cooking area, tell us:

  • The address or postcode
  • An estimate of numbers
  • Any venue rules
  • Allergies we should know about

Getting a quote is simple: date, place, numbers and serving time. We’ll reply with a clear price and what’s included. Use our quote form.

Common questions in Langstone

What’s the nearest station to Langstone?

The closest is Havant station, roughly 1.1 miles away.

Do you come out to small places like Langstone?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

How does hog roast hire work?

We bring the roaster, roast the hog on site for hours, then our chef carves it and our staff serve, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling.

Will people get crackling?

It is: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it is several hours. You will know our arrival time in advance.

Is there a non-pork option?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. We don’t provide halal meat.

What meats can we have?

The hog is the centrepiece, with lamb and chicken as extras.

Can we just hire the roaster?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Catered or do it yourself?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.
